People don’t want the truth. They want others to tell them what they want to hear, to validate what they think and feel. People need their egos stroked, they need to hear how right or important they are

i am criticized for the same thing. you have to be true to yourself. its too bad that people don't value honesty

Because sometimes the truth sucks and having to face it is harder than a sugar coated lie.

I don't think tactful people who give an honest answer when asked are disliked. It's usually those who give an unsolicited opinion without being asked or are generally harsh with no regard to the feelings of others.
Also, when a person doesn't talk to you when you tell them truth they find hard to accept it doesn't necessarily mean they dislike you. They might just need time to process it.

I think most of the people today younger people don’t have thick skin. They take everything so personal it’s just what I think.

What always trumps honesty is courtesy

People are stupid and think their friends must tell them what they want to hear

Because they are straightforward they are honest and they are blunt and the people they are talking to that can't accept it get their little feelings hurt because they feel words cause pain and sorrow when they're just words and they can't accept it and I look at like it is what it is grow up accept it that's how it is

People often like polite, walking-on-eggshells types more, but they generally respect blunt and honest people more as long as that bluntness doesn't spill over into cruelty.
