I know we men tend to compliment girls a lot more often, so there could be sth in that. I've had a few compliments but I got no idea whether that's a lot in the general scheme of things.

@SW-User damn… I guess I need to start complimenting you guys more often then 🤔

@SW-User No, we'll start thinking we are Gods among Men. MAke us work hehe

I can’t recall the ones I have received. Further, it’s only happened a handful of times.
Men don't get compliments often.

I thought it's a well know fact.
Dez580 · 61-69, M
@NotSureAboutMyUserName Really?, then I must be meeting the wrong sort of lass
@Dez580 It's not often but men do get compliments but it's no where near to what women get.
Convivial · 26-30, F
Interesting point and i guess it's true
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I remember compliments if I'm close to the person. It's not so much as to not receiving anything, more than I appreciate sincerely meant comments.
Dez580 · 61-69, M
Men are complimented quite a lot from my expereince, if they also display good manners, respect and have the ability to listen to others and not try to dominate any conversation. Well that is my experiences as a gentleman.
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
Women often don’t give men much feed back or many compliments.

I think it serves a biological function that men have to be self assured and make it without encouragement.

Compliments are nice though… especially from your best girl.

😜

Women generally give fewer compliments than men. My last was earlier this week.

Ask me in another week and I’ll likely forget.

I do love when my Goddess compliments me for either doing something for her or looking good. It motivates me when I am complimented.
Torsten · 36-40, M
hmm I certainly dont remember every compliment i have received. I remember the few ones that stood out from all the rest though

I think this depends on who is giving the compliments. From my past relationships, I'd get a lot of compliments. But from a stranger?... I don't think I've ever gotten a compliment from a stranger in my life.
He is blessed with a good memory 😁
Or else it’s a compliment that’s really a hidden insult, such as “You’ve got a great face for radio!”
Or “You’re not half as bad looking as I thought you would be, which still leave you 1/3 short of my expectations.”
Or “Fatso!”
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
Haha nah, I don't remember every compliment. Compliments embarrass me anyway
reubles · 41-45, M
I remember a compliment I got from some gay dude from like 20 years ago, guy said I looked like Johnny Depp, which made me laugh because I'm an ugly dude, lol
@reubles I’ve been hit on by gay men more often than women. What does that say about me?
black4white · 56-60, M
I receive compliments often ranging from my appearance, to what i drive, to my demeanor .... do i remember them.... nope dont even try. :-)
As a man who hangs around with men on occassions......golf...or whatever......its sad to admit but very few guys deserve compliments from girls. Foul mouths....crappy dressers....no attention to grooming.....tight wads.....
MrGoodbar · 51-55, M
its not common but I don't think it is necessary either

I compliment my boyfriend a lot .
I remember the genuine ones that meant something to me.

A lot of guys get tired of being rebuffed by girls so they just don’t approach or hit on them. Some guys are shy or don’t know how to talk to women either so they wait for the women to come talk to them . The overall dating dynamic today is a bit different than say 20-30 years ago. Maybe it’s why he is that way.

I don’t take compliments from people seriously. As quick as people can build you up they can also tear you down so I take it in stride instead.
Allelse · 36-40, M
Nope. But then I don't like compliments, they make me uncomfortable.
Rolexeo · 26-30, M
It is and yes
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
It's only a half joke. Men get compliments so rarely that even simple one sticks with them for years.
huskyguy89 · 31-35, M
I believe the most interesting compliment I ever received was that "My voice was sexy." Heh and I definitely remember that one cuz it doesn't happen very often..so when it does it stays. Something to kinda remind me when I need it.
walabby · 61-69, M
@huskyguy89
I had that one once. I had a dreadful cold at the time. XD
SW-User
No actually they are so rare that when they occur every once or twice a decade I just try to brush them off and forget them as some oddity..
Kodel · 26-30, M
I think this stems mainly from a different level of investment between men and women. While this isn't true of the whole, men find it easier to compliment women because they're more invested, or at least that's the way it seems. Whether the intention behind the investment is innocent or naughty is up to interpretation, but nonetheless the point stands. I'd wager a decent portion of men would say that the number of times they genuinely inquire after a woman's wellbeing, activites, hobbies or struggles outnumbers the times that it comes back to them. Nonetheless, men also know that women, like anyone, like to hear compliments, so we do it. I suppose it's something that's hard to see from the inside.
Not making this comment to have a go at any particular group, but just to express the nature of experience.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
I wouldn’t go that far, but I can remember very specific compliments from girls like 10 years ago.
