I have been catfished.
I loved them no matter who they were.
She confessed everything to me.
We finally met.
The feelings were all still there. Real. And magnified.
We got married a year a later.

rule of thumb for my fellow catfishees: if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Since your story ended happily, with a marriage, it's hard to see how your rule would apply to your story.

@greenmountaingal: I realize that. However, I feel like my story was the exception. Most of these catfish stories turn out tragic. Better rule of thumb would be: if your gut is telling you they're lying. They're lying. lol

@AnarchoMetalchic: we met on a game. Her avatar was a dude. I thought she was a guy from the getgo. We were speaking online only for about three months before she confessed everything to me. She wrote me a long letter explaining she was a woman. But everything else about her was real. Her job. Her name. Personal details about her life. She just catfished me w pictures of a dude.

I was definitely hurt. And confused. There were a bunch of lies going on. But that didn't change the undeniable connection her and I had from the getgo. I couldn't unlove her at that point even if I wanted to.
