I Believe Black Lives Matter
When I think about it, the BLM movement is helping everyone when it comes to speaking out about and fighting against police brutality. Some have it in their mind that that Black people want to be treated special by police, not realizing that police reform also impacts them.
For example, in the aftermath of Michael Brown's death in 2014, there was a campaign to get police across the nation to wear body cameras, which led to an expanded use of it. Now in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, some states are banning the use of the chokehold police use to restrain a suspect. Of course there are still flaws and we have a long ways to go. But it's good that the BLM movement is taking a stand and fighting for police reform.
