I have never had the love I gave a woman returned to me, been single 15+ years now and I feel no despair, depression, or anguish.
But to answer your question this is the only way I would enter a relationship/marriage if I was involved with a woman and loved her knowing I was terminal or could die is to pass on my retirement survivor spouse pay and medical insurance to help her still until she passes away ounce I was long gone.

What if it did work out? Ask yourself that question. Love is precious. If you never take a chance, you may be missing out on something beyond words. Can you live like that? You know your heart.
I'd certainly Not intend pain inflicted on a beloved in such a situation. Hence, a knowing No.
