@bongstaysintreehouse I like it it's quirky 😛
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
It's only been 5+ years, and people still ask that question.

I like SW much better.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@uncalled4 That’s because some people think EP was better, or more to their taste. And because SW is somewhat similar, the memory of EP lingers. Also, of course, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@MartinII I do understand that, but the "I miss EP" thing got old very quickly.
I was only on it a few months before it closed, so I missed when it was supposed to have been really great. I would have liked to have seen that.
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
I heard it was long dead.

@SnowBlack and the ashes have been spread as well.

[c=800000]I miss life before this fucking plandemic! 😡😡😡[/c]
ArishMell · 70-79, M
I don't.

I enjoyed two or three years of using it, but became both tired of its downhill drift, and rather alarmed by some of what it was drifting into.

It had some right rum types on it, such as users (probably children) thinking they were wolves. I'd have thought it difficult for a dog to use even a normal PC keyboard.

I could not have foreseen EP closing but had left it quite a while prior to that.
toddr13 · 46-50, M
Meh, it had its moments, I guess, but it was not the object of perfection that people make it out to be in retrospect. Some people had good experiences, and then there was the dark side. Because it was largely unregulated, aside fro EP Allie, that ranged from codependent, at best, to true malevolence at the worst. I had absolute nutters want to talk and then they’d turn and insult me for the topic that they wanted to talk about, or they’d send unsolicited messages of an adult nature that were of zero interest. Just bizarre things went on in the middle of the night and early morning. So, not a great loss to me.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@toddr13 Interesting recollections. Lack of regulation was one of the things I liked about EP compared to SW. I know that that risks consequences of the kind you describe. But regulation on SW has forced out a number of good people including friends of mine. As well as being personally regrettable, that has tended in my opinion to reduce the quality and interest of members’ contributions.
Fuzzypinksocks · 26-30, F
I rememebr joining that as a kid

Miss EP ? Most certainly.
Don't have to say "EP was all good" EP was like us, incomplete humans, good, baf and ugly all mixed up, weird people trying to express, connect and find themselves.
Miss it, because a few lives were saved, some hapless guys finding hope & strength to rebuild themselves. I kept running into them in facebook, and witnessed amazing growth.Fortunate that I could shine a torch on their dark & dirty road to self-discovery
EP wasn't all that

@bijouxbroussard So far as I’m concerned it’s not an obsession, simply a consistent opinion. So when anybody asks I will express that opinion. Why it’s significant that EP has been gone for more than 5 years I don’t understand. I’ll still have the same opinion in 10 years time, if I’m alive, unless SW has changed for the better.
@MartinII What’s wrong with SW ? The amount of time is significant, because EP is unlikely to return.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard There’s no chance of EP returning, but I don’t see why one shouldn’t use it as a model by which to judge its successors. There are plenty of things I remember fondly from 50 years ago which I sometimes use in a similar way!

What’s wrong with SW? I’ll mention three things, by comparison with what I remember of EP. SW is less easy to use. There are many fewer active members, and partly as a result substantive interesting posts are relatively rare. The management is much more intrusive, and has hounded out quite a lot of people, including friends of mine. (I myself left in protest last year, but came back with mixed feelings.)

I do … but it was full of creep

I miss it but it won’t return and life moves on 🙂
