Messages from brand new accounts…..

I’m wondering if there are new accounts or just new alts.

New accounts, old accounts...

They're all pretty much the same to me. Probably because I'm not usually interested in chatting in the private messages, I almost always turn them down no matter who they are.

Usually reply. I've had interesting conversations with people who wanted to pick my brain about something I posted somewhere, or they were writing a book and wanted to quote me on something in spite of the fact that I made it plain as day that I disagreed with their position and couldn't imagine that anything I had to say on the subject helped their cause. And the one who recognized my user name from a chatroom I hung out in 10 years ago.

What I don't like and what usually quickly leads to me ignoring them are people on a website where I have thousands of post that have to ask what my interest are. Or the ones who have something to sell or to invest in, or are looking for a hand out. There was that one whose first language clearly wasn't English but figured we might be kin due to the fact her fathers first name was also Robert. Go figure

I ignore unless they start with something intelligent. Or we have had a back and forth banter in a post first.

I ignore messages in general unless it’s someone I know lol

If they are new with not even a profile pic or bio and they start with just Hi, ill say hi back then it will normally go... when did you last have sex 😏. That's the end of that

If they start with anything rude in the first messsge then i definitely will not reply.

I very rarely chat to anyone on messages unless we have connected through messages on posts

When I was genuinely brand-new here, the very first p.m. I got within a couple minutes of joining was some guy asking me for jack off instructions.

I don't feel like I am ever obliged to reply to any message. That said, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Depends in part on how busy I am. Sometimes it is obvious that it is not going to be productive for either one of you. Still, It doesn't hurt to wish someone a good SW experience, even if you don't expect to be a crucial part of it.

I stalk their profile. I check out the groups and see if they made at least one post. Granted, that depends if I’m feeling social at all.

I have replied to all the messages I have received. None have been impolite so far so it seems polite to reply. Sometimes my reply gently chides them for just saying hi instead of saying something meaningful.

If someone adds me I hesitate to add them back if they have nothing on their profile (no introduction, no posts). But I generally respond to all messages. Then again I am not a beautiful woman like you whose inbox is constantly full of admiring messages!

I block all the alt accounts that hit my profile. It got me rid of my stalker and it keeps the nasty people I have blocked from continuing to see my profile and comments through those alt accounts

I give everyone the benefit of the doubt the first time. If they then go off the rails, I will ignore them.

I would give it time and see their overall behaviour in posts and such before even considering replying to them. But i do this to old accounts too, because i dont know them.

New accounts are best ignored. If they are good people they will make posts and interact on the posts they find interesting and we will get to know them in time.

If I don’t recognize the user I usually won’t respond unless they have something worthwhile to respond to. I rarely message anyone on here.

If they have no activity nor anything I ignore them

Not all all, I have to get to know them through their posts first.

I screen all my messages and ignore brand new accounts.

It depends on the message tbh.

And also the account I guess. If it seems legit with at least a profile pic then I might give it the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise I might wait and see if they build it up at all.

I guess I am totally of non-interest to everyone in this site and even to the world that is all around me.

I check and if they blank I know it's an alt account check-ing why I BLOCKED them lol I I just BLOCK them too
