Is it just me or does Elon Musk's reason for delaying a buy out of Twitter make no sense lol

Musk has put a $44 billion deal on hold while he confirms that bot accounts represent less than 5% of users. "To find out, my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of @twitter" Musk said in a tweet.

Whaaaaaaaattt he couldn't have a check on 100 followers done within an hour and without an announcement? Is this a move to tank the share price before he buys?

Maybe he's sensing the backlash and its possible economic repercussions if people leave in droves because of his ownership and changes?

@ChipmunkErnie that could be it. A lot of people have already moved to different platforms before the deal is even final. Maybe he didn't realize the purchase in itself would make the platform less popular.
