Seems like a strange time of the season to sack him. I'd be very surprised if a new manager makes any difference. Is anyone lined up to take over?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Burnley123 Like I said (all along) Burnley was right to sack Dyche and we will probably stay up.

@Burnley123 It's looking a lot more likely than a couple of weeks ago.

I have a theory that Burnley owners wanted to get rid of Dyche at end of season, but were worried they might stay up and they wouldn't be able to.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SW-User It's quite possible. The new owner is a big believer in the passing game being the way forward. The interim coach has changed the tactics to move us higher up the pitch and keep the ball on the floor. Also the owners are into analytic recruitment. From that perspective, Europe offers much better value than the Championship (where Dyche likes to recruit).

It's likely the owners suggested Dyche did these things and he refused.

It's not over yet but Everton have a tough fixture list. One more win might do it and two definitely will.

Think the decision would have been taken after the Norwich defeat , the team looked flat and lacking ideas against a team below them , I admire Burnley and Sean Dyche for the tremendous achievements over the past nine years and hope they can somehow pull off a Great escape in the remaining eight games .
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@skimpyboy The midfield is the weakest in the league but that is not Dyche's fault. The previous board went through years of underinvestment and let the squad grow old together.
skimpyboy · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 fully agree ,think the previous board did not have any money to invest in players ,saying that are the new American owners willing to splash the cash ? That might be dependent on what league they are in next season.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@skimpyboy TBF, the player recruitment under Alan Pace has improved.

Cone, Weghorst, Collins and Roberts have all been decent signings who improved the squad.

It's too little, too late though. Two good transfer windows can't compensate for doing nothing for the previous three years. It's an old squad, with obvious weak areas.
RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
Probably not. It seems like a last desperate throw of the dice to avoid relegation. You can't totally discount a new manager 'bounce' , but really ,whoever it is , has very little to work with.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RodionRomanovitch Harsh but true.

We also have to think about next season. Stay up or go down, I'm not sure we can get better than him.
comfi1 · 61-69, M
To do so this with games left is stupid. He should have been allowed to continue if until relegation became inevitable.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Always kept them safe on what would've been one of the lowest budgets in the league. A squad that's looking old and weak. Plus selling the biggest goal threat they had to what was a relegation rival at the time. Clearly completely reasonable for them to blame and sack Dyche
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy We didn't get a choice with Wood because Newcastle paid his release clause but yeah...

The league gets stronger every year and we've been getting weaker. He's kept us up in previous years against the odds but this time the odds are too steep.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Will be interesting to see where he ends up
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy The obvious place would be at a big-ish Championship club.
It's not a sentimental business. They're struggling and the new manager bounce is an effect, often because players decide to start putting in a shift all of a sudden

crazy who will they get better at this stage of season
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@billstickers Big Sam is the bookies favourite. 🙇‍♀️
LookingForTheSummer · 31-35, M
I really have no idea what they are thinking. Do they expect the new manager to secure a champions league spot or what?
Dyche did a fantastic job considering the resources he had. They hardly gave him any money to spend!
Barny52 · 56-60, M
he would have done well in championship next season if they do go down
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
The man gave his all to that club.
senghenydd · M
It's a un-written rule when a club loses five out six games the Manager usually has to go - there's no sentiment in business Burnley now have plenty of time to sort out their new Manager in time for next season.
ReneeT · 61-69, M
I don't think he's had the proper players to raise Burnley up any higher than they are now.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@ReneeT We have punched above our weight for years but the league got stromger and our players got older.
ReneeT · 61-69, M
@Burnley123 I hope that he does land somewhere else. That was a bad way to send him off. And they did look good against Southhampton the other day
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@ReneeT I'm sure he'll get another job.

We did great against Southampton. The house that Dyche built has strength yet.
BlueFan2022 · 22-25VIP
Im a city fan and i have to say he didn't deserve to get sacked. The things he has done for Burnley is incredible and he was there since 2012 so he deserves a good send off. And believe it or not i was working in a hospital in 2019 and i atcaully walked past Sean Dyche in the corridor. I was going to say hi but i didn't want to disturb him. But now i wish that i said hi. He was probably one of the best managers in the prem aswell. But as a coty fan i wish Burnley the best of luck and i hope you stay up and i hope Sean gets the goodbye he deserves.

Respect from a City fan
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@BlueFan2022 It's hard to say he was one of the best managers in the league. That's Klopp and Guardiola who are also the best in the world.

But yeah, for Burnley's level, there is nobody better than Dyche. The style of play is the only thing that stopped him from getting a much bigger job.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
This isn't ageing well.

😂

I'm not complaining.
