I Miss My Childhood

[youtube=https://youtube.com/watch?v=PZI_y3qDnOE]

We remember our loved ones with what they have nurtured us with.

Grandma Elsie gave us socks every Christmas. I was always one who appreciated gifts, but as a child, I thought socks were a pretty boring gift. 馃槀 One year my mother commented about how Grandma had lived through the Great Depression and still thought socks were a precious gift to give. From that time on, they became precious to me as well. It also taught me to look for what is behind what you see. 鉂わ笍

The generation of our parents lived in difficult times. They had to be practical and struggle for a living. That's the reason why they may be scarce at encourage loving words sometimes, but instead they show affection through other ways, like food.

@Cierzo true. More of the doing of practical things. Those food memories are the best.
