A Dance In The Dark

It bloomed, it wilted, it died,
Never beheld by a single eye.
Its life never stilled in a mind,
An errant thread in the tapestry of time.

All the summers we never got to share,
Missed words that were no longer there.
It's madness to hold tight and care,
When moments flee, without a second to spare.

And still I want to hold you, kiss every part of you,
Share every part of myself, through and through.
But I know I'm not important, I'm a temporal hue,
Fading into ether. As all of us are doomed to do.

Not every flower needs to be seen,
We are not our hopes, or our dreams,
We are simply passing, fancying, fleeing,
Clawing at the limestone of our being.

really good. I'm not even a poetry fan but I think I know the quiet fatalism being expressed here
