Is it safe to connect my main bank with ally?

I want to use ally for an additional savings account, since it gives back more than my current one
as far as APY

Short answer: Yes. It is as safe as other online banking/investing options out there. Having that connection is crucial, when you're dealing with a financial institution without brick and mortar presence.

Keep them separate

@MarineBob what I'm saying is, when trying to open an Ally account, it's asks for my main accounts routing number AND account number....

is it safe to connect them in this way?

How else do I put money into the account?
But dealing with computers, I want to know that this is safe

@iamnikki call ally directly and open an account don't have it connected with your primary

I have no idea what you are talking about 🙂

If I remember correctly ally doesn't have many ATms. So for a main checking account it's bad. You will be charged an extra fee because you are using other companies atms . It's best to just use them as a savings account

@empanadas I said nothing about making Ally my main checking account...
