Is it scientific to first suspect something as "alien stuff"?

Like when you can't tell what you can see at the sky, it's first declared as "ufo" (unidentified flight object) which the media made the people assiocate with science-fiction though. As soon as things return to plain explanations, some people start to believe in conspiracy theories. I mean why not first think then talk?
