What is the weirdest thing you ever got school detention for?

In year 4 some girls in my boarding house decided to bring our snowman inside "because he looked cold" ⛄🙄

Because I had opened the door and put my hat on his head, I was implicated and had to sit indoors on my next two lunch breaks 😔
When I went to Catholic school I got detention for not wearing socks with my uniform. They would also check our skirts to make sure the hem wasn't too short. 🤷‍♀️
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@saragoodtimes Once on a school trip our minibus broke down. One of the girls volunteered her tights and the supervising teacher (who was female btw) was able to replace the worn out drive belt 🙂
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
@FreeSpirit1 same here with the skirts
Muffintopgina · 26-30, F
@FreeSpirit1 lol I even got sent home a few times my skirt was to tight and way to short
For Being like 3 minutes late to a class 🙃 it was in school Detention tho. Silly, but I did have to come in early before school started just to sit through that for like an hr or so. I planned on just reading my book until it was over but the teacher in charge was we a complete jerk who isolated me and yelled at me infront of the whole class because I had my foot on the book tray on the bottom of the desk in front of me. Turns out he suffered from bipolar disorder but it still was a very traumatic experience for me.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Stark I'm sorry you were treated like that 😕
@SW-User yeah, that teacher was really annoying about time 😑 anyone who was late 3 times to her class received school detention and that still includes it it’s just by a few minutes.

Exactly, a lot of those teachers were unstable and they got away with the poor treatment towards their students. Because I immediately went to the bathroom to call my dad to come get me and he spoke to the principal about it but they really just brushed it under the rug as if it never happened.
JackJames · M
@Stark I’ve always noticed that punishments in school are out of proportion to the crime.
SW-User
never detention but remarks for insulting the teachers, making offensive blog posts w my friends that started drama and taking the keys for some classrooms among other things, they erased it later anyway 🥱
SW-User
@SunshineGirl lol same but i did it w my parents as they're too religious and didn't like those dance events lmao
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User Remarks that supposedly were to be signed by our parents. I could replicate my mother's signature well enough that even a professional would probably have a hard time distinguishing the two 🌝
SW-User
@Elessar same forgery is an art 💅
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
Skirt too short
Late to class
Wrong colour hair bobbles
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrsRachelEvans You had regulation colour hair accessories? 😳
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
@SunshineGirl yes white black and dark blue were allowed. It was to stop all the colours of the rainbow.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrsRachelEvans I did have scrunchies in all colours of the rainbow which I had for gymnastics 🙂 I can't remember ever getting told off for wearing them in class though.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
I got suspended for fighting when I was 14.After an investigation when it was understood he instigated I was back at school.
There were code violations I could have been in bother for but the teachers never enforced them.
I wore mini skirts and shorts when dress code was skirts no shorter than Just above the knee.
I wore sandals including with heels or I went barefooted when dress code was sensible shoes.
I chewed gum which was not allowed,I would blow bubbles and pop my bubblegum super loud including when waiting for assembly to start.
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl I worked pretty hard and passed all my exams. There were a few gum chewers in school including at least two of the teachers. One teacher was blowing bubbles while we were taking an exam. She was supposed to be making sure we all stayed quiet and didn't cheat.
One guy told me he failed an exam because I was sat in front of him,my legs and bare feet totally distracted him.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@tallpowerhouseblonde That's a weak excuse for not revising properly!

We had exams in the gym and we had to take off our shoes before going in so as not to mark the floor. I think I did most of my final exams in bare feet because I wasn't wearing socks 🙂
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl Maybe but he usually got good grades so I did believe him.Our exams were in the school hall,I took all my final exams with my feet bare,it was comfortable and felt natural and I was alone in doing that.
gdon39 · 46-50, M
Streaking across the stage with Miss Saigon musical.

I actually got suspended and two weeks out of school
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@gdon39 So funny,daring too.
gdon39 · 46-50, M
@tallpowerhouseblonde it was fun and I love showing off
tallpowerhouseblonde · 36-40, F
@gdon39 Seems that we have some things in common.
Avocadorable · 26-30, F
Always dress code violations 🙄 especially when I went to Catholic school..so stupid
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
@SunshineGirl our rules were that bent over your skirt should not show any underwear and that included stocking tops.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MrsRachelEvans I wore hand me down skirts from my older sisters. No chance of those ever being too short 🙄
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
@SunshineGirl I was an only child but often I would grow but my father did not object the short tunics or skirts and my mother was actually called in once.
I never had detention. I was pretty good kid. I did almost got expelled my senior year, though. It was touch and go, wether I was going to get to graduate or not.
@SunshineGirl I jumped their hoops, so I could graduate. I made my point.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@JustGoneNow By conforming outwardly, we can commit the most outrageous transgressions on our own account 🙂

DareeQn · 26-30, F
Easy one, sitting with a friend and wasn't eating, just had a bottled water. My friend just finished her lunch and underhand tossed her trash towards the trash can and some guy slapped at it and it flew like six feet. The Dean walked by and told me to pick it up "now". I simply asked, why am I being asked to pick it up. He replied because you just threw it. Uhm excuse me, its my first day back I was out not feeling well yesterday and didnt eat my lunch today and he said well I saw you do it. I said you did not and he gave me a detention hour for being defiant.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@DareeQn No court of appeal in school 😕
DareeQn · 26-30, F
@SunshineGirl he was a jerk. The upside was the Art instructor was proctoring detention. I told her what happened and she believed me. She said she couldn't clear the hour but I could do what I wanted. She then proceeded to help me with a project I had due and gave me some feedback on some art I had been doing and at the end she handed me a note that just said Stay Amazing and True. I found out that four years later she was named Dean of Students and the prior Dean had been released.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@DareeQn What a cool teacher 😎 I'm glad she got her due reward 🙂

We sometimes did running or yoga in detention hour, which wasn't much of a punishment for me 😏
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
driving a homemade (built by our technology class actually) hovercraft down the hallway...

principal accused us of scratching the floor, and we're like "what part of hovercraft do you not understand?"
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@wildbill83 That is hilarious! 🤣
MellyMel22 · F
I think I might’ve had detention one time maybe, not sure why. I have been kicked out of a class though for throwing erasers at a pervs head.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MellyMel22 Sounds perfectly reasonable to me (throwing erasers, that is) 🙂
4meAndyou · F
I never had a detention. I was such a good girl you would probably barf. Except when I was being a little bit bad...but I never did anything bad in school. 😉
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@4meAndyou Bless you! 🤗 I wasn't a very naughty girl, but I was quite easily misled by others 🤫
Probably singing that dumb taliban song into the window of a classroom that wasn't even mine because I was dared to. Poor kids lmao.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@HijabaDabbaDoo I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry 🙂💖 That one must really have created a stir!
@SunshineGirl meh, you can laugh. Just stupid teenage shit.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
I was caught sleeping on top of the library shelves. I was banned from the library for a week.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@hippyjoe1955 Health and safety. Sleep only on the lower shelves lest you roll off 😉
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl This was long before health and safety. My truck outside had a rifle in the back window as did every other truck in the parking lot. I was 'desecrating the hallowed grounds' of the library by sleeping in the room.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
I got detention only once. I was literally walking through the door when the bell rang. I wasn't seated at my desk when the bell rang, so I got detention.

You're snowman hat thing beats my dumb story.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl The teacher used discussions to teach the class. We'd get reading assignments and then discuss them in class the next day .

Well i and the other 4 people late for class answered 99% of the teacher's questions in class. So i told the other kids not to answer any questions for a week.

The teacher only called on students that raised their hands. So we did not raise our hands.

Class was really painful for that week.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@HoraceGreenley Work to rule!
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl The teacher didn't figure out what was going on until the second class. Halfway through the second class he got a look on his face thay he finally understood.

The other kids in the class asked what we were doing because the class was so painful. So we told them and they understood. They also agreed not to answer questions no matter how painful it was.

The following week we went back to answering questions just to prove the point.
Torsten · 36-40, M
for breaking down a bathroom stall door after a guy stole my hat and was hiding in there with it
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Torsten Did you at least get your hat back?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@SunshineGirl sure did
one day my teacher walked into class and announced that i should go to the principals office.'i just cant deal with you today'.... lolz
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Hitting the teacher with spitballs. The teacher never saw me but determined me to be the guilty party. It may have happened frequently.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Hitting a teacher on the arse with a wet beach towel
MartinII · 70-79, M
@nedkelly I thought that would have been the sort of thing a teacher did to a pupil!
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl The teacher was standing next to the swimming pool, it was an amazing snap
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@nedkelly I once witnessed this in our partner boys' school. It looked and sounded utterly barbaric 😳 I am imagining this is very much a male thing 🤷‍♀️
GunFinger · F
Not really detention. Just a report to send to my parents. I didn't wear our uniform correctly.
SW-User
@GunFinger
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I had a teacher that dolled it out in 5 minute increments for talking in class. You could work it off as after class detention, writing papers or making Hispanic food [Spanish class]. By the end of the semester I had banked 2 hours of detention [I must have never stopped talking back then 🤣]. So much detention the teacher didnt want to sit 2 hrs after and I couldnt fake my way with enough 1 page reports about Latam countries- so he dropped me a letter grade. Oops.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Starcrossed Making Spanish food sounds pretty cool 🙂 I often got kept behind to practice how to be quiet 🙄
MartinII · 70-79, M
Not me, but a good friend. We were sitting quietly waiting for the teacher to arrive for the next lesson when a different teacher came in, obviously having mistaken the classroom. He said to us “What are you doing here?”. My friend replied cheerfully “What are you doing here Sir?” He got two hours detention on a Saturday afternoon for insolence.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MartinII Some teachers just don't seem to like children 😕
MartinII · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl I had a few of those, especially at primary and junior school. I don’t know about now, but in those days motives for becoming teachers were, shall we say, varied.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MartinII Oh yes, I can imagine 😬
bowman81 · M
Detention was not on the list of disciplinary options in my schools.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@bowman81 Lucky you!
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
Awwww! 😭😭😭 That is harsh! 🥺🥺🥺 I don't think bringing a snowman in the school deserves detention I mean the snowman only wanted to be with his friends! 😭😭😭 I LOVE building snowmen it is so fun! 😁😁😁
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MommyLucy It wasn't so much the hospitality that our housemistress objected to, but the large puddle on the floor that our guest left behind 😭
MommyLucy · 36-40, F
@SunshineGirl Awwww! 😭😭😭 I'm sorry! 🤗🤗🤗
David4 · 22-25, M
I was far too well behaved to get detention😇 Though I did get taken outside the classroom once or twice for a scolding!
David4 · 22-25, M
@SunshineGirl That sounds like it would have been quite a strict school!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@David4 Strict but fair. No boys were allowed in the girls' boarding house, not even snowboys! 🤣
David4 · 22-25, M
@SunshineGirl Probably just as well, who knows what mischief they would have gotten up to!☃️
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I stole the book w all the locker combinations in it .
When I was busted 3 days later they asked me if I copied down the numbers.
I said no (but I did).
They only gave me 1 day of detention
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@AthrillatheHunt That seems quite lenient 😳 Did you do anything with the stolen intelligence?
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl I gave my buddy his crushes locker combination and he would leave her love letters .
I’m convinced they didn’t punish me for fear that I would do something w the master list .
SW-User
Being late back into school after lunch because I'd had detention at lunch.
SW-User
@SunshineGirl I had clashing detentions the next day, a double booking
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User Such a busy schedule!

What was the first one for?
SW-User
@SunshineGirl I think that was when we didn't do the homework that the doddery old supply teacher set.
Elessar · 26-30, M
I've seen things in high school here that you people wouldn't believe.. 😶
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SunshineGirl People entering/leaving at any time through windows, poker games / gambling during classes, the dusty windscreen of the principal's car with a big "CUCKOLD" written on it, people bringing stadium horns to celebrate the end of the year, people hiding in the closet only to come out mid-lesson claiming they've just returned from Narnia..
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Elessar It sounds like the eighth circle of hell 😬 I tried the old Narnia trick, it never worked though 🦁😅
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SunshineGirl I'm in Italy. It's not uncommon to see "lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'intrate" (abandon any hope, all ye who enter here) signs on classroom doors. Here, they really meant it 😅
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
This was not me, but a kid in my class got a detention or eating an orange wrong. Fucking nuns!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn I can understand how a banana might be misconstrued by sisters of the veil, but an orange? 🤔
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl The kid wasn't peeling it well and all the juice was dripping all over her hands and desk.

Oh ya a banana incident would have caused an immediate expulsion and exorcism :P
Slade · 56-60, M
Throwing clay in ceramics class. That was irresistable fun👍
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Slade Oh yes, I can imagine 😊
Slade · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl especially with our perpetually enraged battleaxe teacher!

Most classes resembled the 3 stooges by the end
carpediem · 61-69, M
For cutting out of detention
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@carpediem Fair enough, I suppose 🙂
carpediem · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl LOL….. I simply got a detention for not showing up for detention. Like that was going to work. 🤦‍♂️
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@carpediem Like fining a pauper for not paying their debt 🤷‍♀️
Hahah i drew on my desk
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@TryingtoLava What did you draw? 🙂
@SunshineGirl im 1000% serious i drew FLOWERS hahaha like i just looked at her and was like okaaayy then

SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@SW-User *Gulp* I imagine you got a bit more than a detention for that.
SW-User
@SunshineGirl yeah ...I got suspended for a bit ....I was bad
InstructHer · 56-60, M
Rolled down socks and it was the gymshoe.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@InstructHer You rebel! Was that a fashion statement?
InstructHer · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl we had to wear grey shorts and socks to the knee. Rolling them down was a sign of rebellion!
Lilnonames · F
I had gym clothes from another school and the teacher said for every time I come to gym in them I would get a grade deducted. I told her what they gonna do make me run faster and jump higher. She came at me. I ran around her twice laughing and saying see mine are better and ran out the gym got a month detention
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Lilnonames That sounds funny 😊 Uniform was a big thing in our school. I used to get into trouble for wearing my gym shorts when I should have had a leotard, and my leotard when I should have had shorts on . . 😒
