Romance is for good looking people only.

Can you prove me wrong?
Good-looking is relative. I’ve seen couples I didn’t particularly consider attractive, but obviously someone did.
@eMortal What do you mean ?
eMortal · M
PDA, going out with mutual friends, traveling etc. I mean spice up the relationship. When people have low self esteem, they don’t do much to spice up the relationship.@bijouxbroussard
@eMortal Again, that’s where physical attractiveness is relative. There are plenty of people with low self-esteem whom others consider attractive.
I don't think looks has anything to do with romance

But then..I've given up on romance. So what do I know
No I know lots of good looking people with no romance in their lives
eMortal · M
That’s true also@SlippingAway
SW-User
@eMortal Yeah well i don't fall into that trap, I have my own tastes. Some of what they call good looking is not to me.
Punxi · 26-30, F
If looks alone remains where said relationship took hold, then romance never entered the equation.
eMortal · M
@Punxi indeed, true romance never did.
I hope too hahaha! I am not ugly but I don’t have anyone knocking my socks off either…

So I don’t know haha!
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
Romance is for those willing to be lied to. Those who wish to believe that they're special. That they matter.

For those of us that know how truly cold and harsh this world can be, romance is little more than a child's fantasy. A self-induced delusion to numb themselves
SW-User
@TinyViolins Now there's some realism for ya. 👍
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@SW-User Everyone thinks they'll end up getting a happily-ever-after based on their Disney-fied view of the world. The reality, as I find it, is that people are pretty self-indulgent and take more than they give. A lot of relationships crash for a reason
SW-User
@TinyViolins yep and love will never be enough if other important things are lacking...😐
You're so right about the happily ending Disney like dream 😐😐😐😐😐
I think its easier for good looking people, interesting people and overall successful people to find romance. There is nothing superficial about it, if anything its deeply ingrained human biology and a need to reproduce with people we find capable of being good partners/parents and giving us good looking smart offspring. Monkey see ,monkey do
eMortal · M
@PepsiColaP that’s the cold reality. I mean “not good looking “ , “unsuccessful people” can have some romance too but not like the type we see in movies haha.
😉
exexec · 61-69, C
I can't prove it, but I think romance can be for anyone. I have a younger friend who is not attractive to me at all, but her husband is totally in love with her. He is a good-looking, talented musician.
eMortal · M
@exexec does he show her off often, do they engage in PDA?
exexec · 61-69, C
@eMortal Mild PDA, holding hands, hugging.
eMortal · M
@exexec that’s good for them!!
SW-User
Romance is for anyone able being able to be romantic, so it's not related to looks.
eMortal · M
@SW-User current romantic relationship are mostly based on how much fun can have together or when we go out.
SW-User
@eMortal that's a shallow way of seeing it. Perhaps only the ones that are for sex, but those usually don't get romantic cause don't want feelings to get involved nor want any commitment. It's a silly age..
eMortal · M
@SW-User very shallow and silly age
Yes.
I've known many couples who were not so good looking when young - like my then best friend Fi and her partner Richard.
They had a great romance, married, had five kids, now have grandkids, and they are still together. With the help of viagra, they still enjoy making love - albeit not so often.

When I met my husband 40 years ago, he had cross-eyes, snaggle teeth, wore heavy glasses, was 5'3'' tall, very hairy, and had severe kyphoscholiosis. Since then his eyes and teeth were fixed, but the back issue has become far worse and he has shrunk 2".

He is beautiful in heart and mind - and has always been faithful. I count myself lucky to have chanced to meet him.
true romance is a rare & special thing, regardless of looks. good looking people have a higher chance of experiencing it maybe, due to having a higher availability of mates.
eMortal · M
@lovelywarpedlemon I think that’s it. They have a higher chance
Hung, muscular, big hooters, great body or a fun sunny disposition can lead to romance too. It’s not just about a face.
eMortal · M
@stratosranger of course, it’s all about confidence 😂
Confidence is sexy. Combine that with an outgoing vibe and you’re golden @eMortal
NewBeginnings7790 · 41-45, F
Who ever it’s for or not for… it has proven that unfortunately it won’t be for me, at least not in this life time.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i think it plays more of a part in dating than people want to admit.
eMortal · M
Exactly! I know a lot who would rather stay single than date someone their friends wouldn’t find good looking. @akindheart
Dino11 · M
Hmmm...how long has this romance thing been around? 🤔
eMortal · M
@Dino11 maybe since 17th century
SW-User
No It's for people who have time for it when it's convenient
SW-User
But aren't looks subjective?
eMortal · M
@SW-User very subjective but we have mainstream media now to tell us what “good looking “ is😌
OnePatheticClown · 51-55, M
Wrong. Rich people get it too...
eMortal · M
Dan193 · 31-35, M
Danny DeVito?
eMortal · M
Hahaha@Dan193
SW-User
I guess shallow people think that way
. Many have connections on a deeper level
eMortal · M
Shallowness rules the dating world. in online dating it’s even worse@SW-User
SW-User
Only fools judge by looks alone
eMortal · M
Well, fools are the majority now.@SW-User
