Maybe you're an agostic theist without realizing it.

You believe in God but may reject the institutional orthodoxy and orthopraxy of whatever that religion expects of you.

It practically sums my beliefs. I believe in God but outside of that i don't rely on any established religion to make any assumptions about God. A lack of presuppositions has been more beneficial for me than a multitude of them.

@astrosandorbits woah thanks for BC dude!

It's impossible for me to not believe in God, it just doesn't work. I imagine it's built in to the human psyche. I think it must be hard for people who don't want to believe in God.
@Roundandroundwego

There's God and then there's the myriad interpretations of everything about Him through time immemorial.
If there is intelligent life similar to us elsewhere "out there"- or in either the development stage or even a vastly superior version of us - I wonder if they have the same God?

You see, I feel the exact opposite to you: I neither believe in any god nor do I feel as though I'm "missing out".

Yeah of course, I mean I certainly believe there's more going on to why the universe exists than we'll ever understand.

Like people who are just like ''I need evidence'' I totally 100% understand that but all we have is a bunch of scientific theories and for all anyone really knows the universe could just be a goldfish bowl in some higher powered beings living room.

So to me there is nothing wrong with saying I think they 'might' be a higher power or I think they 'might' not be a higher power but at the end of the day .. Nobody knows and nobody ever will🤷🏼

All of which also means religious interpretations of how we should look upon law and order, for example, should not be considered like "According to the Bible" the punishment for (whatever) MUST BE DEATH!

I worded the post clumsily - I meant it's okay to believe in any god you want but I don't go along with the man-made ideas about who or why we need to behave or worship a certain way.

@rinkydinkydoink I think I understood what you were trying to say and I completely agree with that my friend. I don't think anything out there that maybe built what we see would be sat judging us by such ancient man made interpretations...

That said I have nothing against Christianity or any other religion. I mean I think I've mentioned before British Christians are a lot different to American Christians as in they don't take the bible as being so word for word correct but that's a different subject and I do understand what you are saying J.

That's it! Strict interpretations of "God's Word" are okay within one's own group but even then - as you suggested - some within any religion demand adherence to ancient traditions (like the plight of being born female in Afghanistan) but don't anyone assume I'm a sinner or incomplete unless I believe it, too.

I always wondered why it was necessary for Jesus Christ to have died as publicly and cruelly as He did.
Maybe that sort of evidence was necessary for the myth to survive?
@rinkydinkydoink Look up "scapegoating".
