Religious homophobia

Religious homophobia is the worst kind of hatred against LGBTQ people. They rely on ancient, maybe even wrongfully translated scripture and a belief in a higher power they can't prove actually exists to spread hate, take away rights and to exclude people from spaces and society.
I feel truly sorry for all LGBTQ people who are religious and get mistreated by their communities.

At least the other homophobes admit that they think queer people are disgusting or that they don't consider them "normal" without sugarcoating their intolerance with words like "sin" and pretentious talk about caring.
Not that homophobia is in any way or form justifiable or rational anyway.

Not all Christians are against gay people. The church I go welcomes them and I definitely wouldn't judge anyone.

@Patientlywaiting
The first one, from genesis is a punishment from God for Eve disobeying God. Adam was also equally punished.
Doesn't justify why women today should be punished for the "wrongdoing" of their supposed ancestors (who didn't actually exist, which makes the entirety of Christianity fall apart, by the way). And punishment or not, it's still sexism, and the context doesn't justify it.
They are no longer relevant.
Even if that's true you're still worshipping the same deity that promoted the murder of homosexuals as well as slavery. Would you trust/like a person who was a murderer just because they no longer murder?
You're furthermore ignoring the NT condemning homosexuality as well, so even according to your understanding of the religion it should still be considered a sin.
Some of them are just sensible precautions considering that we knew nothing about germs at that time.
But surely the all-knowing creator of everything must have known? Why then did he make the Bible read like it was written by uneducated desert people from the Bronze Age Near East, rather than, well, the omniscient creator of everything?

@Emosaur were you raised to be Christian?

Luckily, not all churches and faiths are homophobic. The church that I attend, a Christian one, certainly isn't and we have a few (probably more) gays and lesbians in the congregation and, likewise, a few of us transgenders.

It's nice. It's welcoming. It's community.

I find it interesting that the monotheistic, male God religions, Christianity and Islam, are homophobic, where the ancient polytheistic Goddess religions, such as the ancient Greeks, had a relaxed attitude toward same-sex relations.

Clean and unclean can’t be argued. It’s here for ever.

The only solution to clean something is use water a cleaning agent to purify , and Faith.

Balance and gluttony also exist. We can be so addicted to our desire that our habits are justified by our own vain imagination…

This is cognitive dissonance.

@LeopoldBloom Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodome were wicked, and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

Genesis 19:4 ¶ But before they lay downe, the men of the citie, euen the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and yong, all the people from euery quarter.
Genesis 19:5 And they called vnto Lot, and said vnto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out vnto vs, that we may know them.
Genesis 19:6 And Lot went out at the doore vnto them, & shut the doore after him,
Genesis 19:7 And said, I pray you, brethren, doe not so wickedly.
Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I haue two daughters, which haue not knowen man; let mee, I pray you, bring them out vnto you, and doe ye to them, as is good in your eyes: onely vnto these men do nothing: for therefore came they vnder the shadow of my roofe.
Genesis 19:9 And they said, Stand backe. And they said againe, This one fellow came in to soiourne, and he will needs bee a Iudge: Now wil we deale worse with thee, then with them. And they pressed sore vpon the man, euen Lot, and came neere to breake the doore.

Agreed. It’s a shame that religion is such a plague on society.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
My friend Kelly is a Christian by choice, she converted to it about 15 years ago and she is not homophobic. In fact her sister is bisexual. No way is Kelly a conservative, bigoted weirdo just because she's religious. She has a live-and-let-live approach to life.
@HairbrushDiva I am not accusing every religious person of being homophobic just that religious homophobia is the worst kind of homophobia and that it's an issue within many religions.

You're being a dick for no reason, and sucking LGBTQ ass for no good reason to boot.

People hate people for all sorts of reasons, but small minded twits like you would rather overgeneralise the reasons than admit ignorance,
@jshm2 I'm not even arguing that all religious people hate LGBTQ people but you can't deny that those that argue with scripture do a very poor job at hiding their true reasons for their hatred.
@jshm2 So you’re on the side of the religious bigots.
