How do I take a good profile pic?

I’m on an app that my REAL LIFE (not online) singles group uses. I want to start a conversation with a certain girl on there but I want her to be able to put a face to the name. Not just that default grey silhouette.

Problem is, I’m self conscious about every pic I take of myself. I think I look dumb no matter what lol.
