they are here because they need to cry to Dad or Papaw
I will ask whats up ?
But when they are done ,I ask
"Now I warned you upfront what to expect ,you disregarded my advice ,
but I did teach you how to deal with these kinds of situations "
"Do you know what you need to do"? then do it
Give Dad (or Papaw) a hug and go deal with you're business
My kids are great parents ,they say my stories help a lot
The were my Dads to me ,,he was the wise one
they are here because they need to cry to Dad or Papaw

@Keepitsimple I try ,at least I am loved by all my kids and their kids
My daughter and I just bought a house together
They all say I have done enough ,now its their turn to give back to me
It was an argument between my oldest and my youngest who I would live with
SO I offered to help buy a house and insure it so when I pass its paid for .
My youngest does a lot for me ,but so do the rest ,but she is the one I rely on the most ,and I raised her kids ,the Dad is dead ,so I am more Dad to them than Grandpa .
The oldest just got a huge settlement and the middle one owns 2 homes
and I have my own home ..they just want me closer ,its an hour round trip to visit me and all of them are very busy ,but even the grand kids fit me in .
I feel I did a good job but they are all my blessings .none of them give me much cause to worry .
But my Dad in my head trying to advise me has been a huge influence
He was not so good at protecting us from Mom
but he did give good advice ..
