Long ago in a far off land yet still as adults my best friend and I were usually jokingly referred to as a gay couple. Lived together, worked together, hung out together. Somewhat understandable even though neither of us is gay, nor were we ever a couple.

I've had a few other friendships over the years seen as relationships as well. Usually shortly after that's pointed out I'm ghosted forever

My best GF and I have on multiple occasions been mistaken for a married lesbian couple. We had our daughters 1 month and a half apart and when it's just us 4 gals out and about we really seem like a family.

Our daughters are both only children and behave like sisters wrestling and jokingly smacking each other in a way that they don't behave with any of their other friends.

@Justafantasy partially due to our codependency, the majority of my IRL friends are also my husband’s. NONE of them have ever supported us splitting, even after learning of some of the abuse he put me through in our 20s and 30s. My father and brother really like him and have also highly encouraged us to work things out.

Only my online friends and therapists have ever encouraged me to leave.

Every time I've gotten close to actually leaving something major happens- had a pretty debilitating accident in 2017, covid hit and I almost lost my job in 2021 and I've just been trying to survive one day at a time since.
@Starcrossed my wife and I barely share anything other than children

@Justafantasy I'm sorry there isn't at least some level of friendship 😔

I was in the same predicament. My ex-best friend and I were confused for being a lesbian couple all the time. Her cousins thought I was in love with her.
@PinkMoon that was years ago. He's still a really close friend, life changes a lot in 20 years.
