This is actually the worst question in the world for both people. For one 95% of all women will always say I don't know or I don't care and unfortunately not every town has the restaurant I don't know or I don't care mind you there is actually a restaurant with that name.

If a woman wants to be successful with this question and she really doesn't care then what she should say is she should say to restaurants one that's cheap and one that's expensive she should say something like the dairy Queen down the street or someplace like Texas Roadhouse one you can pretty much eat out for about 12 bucks the other one it's going to be about 40. But by stating two restaurants in two different price ranges you will get this kind of response well yes I like Texas Roadhouse why Don't we go there. Or if he doesn't like either of the two choices you throughout he will say would you like something like Olive garden instead. This opens up a discussion and dialogue not putting all the pressure on either person to pick the restaurant.

My dad gets soooo mad at my mom cuz she will say, What do you want?

Then he'll pick something like Chinese and she'll wrinkle her nose and say, I'm not really in the mood for Chinese.

Then he'll says, How about Mexican? And she'll say, We had Mexican last Friday.

Then he says, Well what are you in the mood for? And she says, I don't care.

And then he goes off cuz she obviously DOES care.

It's funny to watch. :P

@Ksmile14 lol i think that’s normal , typical adult conversation. i’ve had that same dialog before but learned to tell him upfront i don’t want , example chinese or fast food , etc etc. it narrows it down.

@Ksmile14 sounds like your mom purposefully uses this strategy to break him down into accepting wherever she wants to go

@ViciDraco Probably so

Then you should ask her where she wants to go for dinner instead of what she wants for dinner. She will happily tell you where and in the menu can decide what

@Jenny1234 Interesting. I was thinking the opposite. I would have asked what she wanted for dinner and then picked a restaurant that catered to that thing according to my budget.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Firegod74 you could give her a few restaurants within your budget to choose from. Some people have a very lousy time making decisions do that would help a lot

@Jenny1234 luckily I live in a small town. The options are ghetto and fancy. I already know we are going to fancy lol.

I just wait until she says “you pick” and then off we go. Lol

@Canuckle Whatever works, right? Lol

When I'm asked this question spontaneously... I honestly feel like I don't care about 50 percent of the time and it's generally because I'm not hungry or only hungry for maybe a light snack...

I do try to be helpful or compromise and offer some ideas and preferences or at least if I'm not feeling like a certain kind of cuisine.

I probably take longer if I am interested in going out. My partner generally knows that we'll both take fifteen minutes to Google search places, download menus, if any other events are nearby, wait times, etc...and quick put on/refresh my makeup and a nice dress. Lol

I don't know or I don't care sounds just like my mom 100%

We used to do that but the Greek restaurants have even bigger menus and a chicken soup (sometimes dumpling/sometimes noodle) that always makes her happy.
