Just finished the Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson.
Space elevators and all imagined here, Politics Galore, Science explored. Very interesting, possible future. We march towards an asteroid mining future.
That's part of why I decided to Read. Science Fiction has a colossal habit of becoming Science Reality.
They're still searching the materials sciences for something strong enough to make a space elevator into reality.
So this trilogy explores the colonization of Mars. A lot happened over this last volume, in fact I didn't expect it, but they started Colonies on Mercury and Venus and Uranus and started Terraforming even Jupiter and it's moons. This is just one possible future of our species.
I've learned a lot about space too, like how it would probably make sense to set up a base on Bennu too in order to launch from and bring asteroids to actually process on 101955 Bennu
Didn't quite read that from this one, they were using in the Trilogy gigantic Space mirrors to direct additional sunlight or deflect sunlight to Terraform planets and make them more inhabitable
Kim Stanley Robinson is a visionary. Like I pointed out about Bennu though, I'm turning more into one.
Humanity tarted to spread across the galaxy in these books. There was a major event on earth too which made the sea levels rise and a lot at once and upended everything.
Earth had Mars agree to let them send 10 percent of the people on the planet already every year to release pressure on the planet.
They sent a huge amount of gasses up to make an atmosphere and like finished terraforming Mars.
This series has a lot of politics and negotiations between people of very different ideologies that still have to mix and get stuff together despite massive disagreeing
I've come to like Kim's writing after reading this, though. Look Forward to the next book of his I read. Well onto Arrow's Fall, :D Finally finishing two series.
