I’m always reading about 5-6 books at once. Here’s the ones in the house I’m working on, the others are in the van

@RebelFox I like reading an eclectic range of books like that! I'm going to a used bookstore this weekend to stock up.

Nothing, I got stuck with Rousseau's autobiography months ago and neither continued with it nor started a new, more interesting book.

Um..... Does. Sw count?
I'm not into reading. Read a horror story last week called Horrorstör. It was extremely lame. Not sure why it was rated so high on good reads and had so many good reviews on YouTube. The only scary part was the kafkaesque situation the main character is stuck in as a working class individual.....which wasn't really the point of the story. Plus I paid so much for it because of its fancy illustrations (the only good thing about the whole book) 😩 Never again!! At least sw is free.

@SW-User I don't like audio books unless I'm drawing or doing house chores.
That being said, I don't draw or do house chores anymore.

The Church of Baseball, by Ron Shelton. About making the movie Bull Durham as a first-time director. I feel I hit a trifecta. It has the correlation of his minor league baseball playing and scenes in the movie that I expected. It has the ongoing challenges of casting, production, and studio politics that I expected. The added bonus is an interesting perspective on his approach to writing/editing the screenplay. There also is an interesting overlay of how being raised a Baptist influenced it all so it is a trifecta with a bonus, I guess.

For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life—until the unthinkable happens.
Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps

I am currently listening to audio books while I do other things. I prefer reading though because you can create your own narrative voice in your mind.
I just finished 1984.

@Adrift I read that several years ago...great book
I also prefer reading as it's more compelling and I can get distracted when it's an audio. They are more accessible than books now though

@SW-User I have trouble focusing with audio too.
I decided to try listening to old books instead of tv while Im doing mindless activities around the house.
I had to keep rewinding because of distraction.

a swim in a pond in the rain, it's not difficult but I'm not going terribly fast with it. I'd hoped to find a group to read it with.
@SW-User it's pretty good. I think you might enjoy it more if you have people to discuss it with.
SW-User
@stound When I start reading it, maybe I could tell you what I think?
@SW-User if you want, although I suspect I may be through it and not recall very much. lots of the book will be geared towards a line of 'now you go write your own' type of thing.

"Catherine of Aragon: The True Queen" by Allison Weir.
Someone posted a similar question recently, and I gave the same answer, because it's a [i]long[i] book! 😃
I am also reading "Histories of Nations", edited by Peter Furtado.

How have you found it - I watch Konstantin on Triggernometry but haven't read the book.
SW-User
@CheekyBadger I really like it and would highly recommend. If you like what he says in his interviews and on Triggernometry, there's no way you couldn't enjoy this book lol. Anyone who values free speech and has any notion of what can happen when that is restricted will be able to understand it. People who don't value the aforementioned should read it so they can learn how vital it is that the West maintains its ideals and allows for freedom of thought.
I feel I have a lot in common with Kissin because my family also came from the Soviet Union and have an understanding of what can happen in a dictatorship (they experienced two kinds - the Nazis and USSR). As Kissin explains, the West doesn't know how fortunate it has been and *still* is.

@SW-User It's part of a very loose trilogy, they don't really need to be read in order. I bought the second one without reslusing, then found this in a charity shop. I've enjoyed all of his books that I've read. They are quite varied in style and subject.

Listening to The Stand audio book.
I never make time to actually read these days so make do with audiobooks whilst driving, general stuff around that house and walking the dog.
Enjoying it. Only ever seen that old TV series of it before and forgot most of it.
