What was the worst book that you ever read that was really popular?

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

In the interest of being open and honest. If you bore the tits off me by mentioning one of those religious books I am going to think you are an idiot.

Ken Follet is a bore. His books are long and tedious for the sake of it.
@Longpatrol Seriously the worst shit i have ever read. Pages of monologues about building a cathedral, shit characters and the most stupid plot.

The Da Vinci Code.
@Cornflower Yeah it was a bit nonsense and a total rip off or holy blood holy grail

@Cornflower every three lines there's an exclamation mark lol. By the time the third chapter ended I was overstimulated and all shocked out
I've been wanting to read it after somewhat liking the show. Hoped it was better in print and I like historical fiction. Rethinking it now though. I can understand the religious aspect given the time period and focus but if there's no viable plot then there doesn't seem to be a point to reading.
Some of the classics I was forced to read at school.
Thomas Hardy 🙄
@V00doo He goes on forever
