How literate are you? Do you take the time to keep up with writing trends?

There are writing trends?
GunFinger · F
What is a writing trend?
AuRevoir · 36-40, M
You mean like how they tried to introduce weird ass woke characters in comics?

Yes I’m aware but it’s not like anything about them is good.. they’re not making their mark on history in a good way.. 👀 “my grandfathers Internet gas……. Gave me powers to be connecting the Internet…. Internet gas….” Professional creators using stuff the mind of a seven year old to strike “awe” and “passion” into readers Lands different when it’s doing it’s absolute best to take itself seriously.. 👀☕️ It’s a new kind of trash television..

A person can be very "literate" without feeling the need to "keep up with writing trends" 🙄

I'm still stuck in the early 20th century

@Lostpoet Some if the best writing ever came from then 👏👏❤️
The only trends I've seen are in the online world: Abreviations, new vocab.
It's been a long time since I picked up anew book and was blown away or immersed.

I feel literature has suffered a fall, not only in writers skill, but also to what is applauded and marked as 'great journalism'.

It's a shame that the written word has fallen behind the visual representation of stories and fact.

Yet I do admire the skill behind the art of many movies and documentaries today - truly pieces of artistry.

I just wish written work was given such a budget and attention, to aquire thr heights it once did.
Trends? No. Can I read and write? Yes

Almost all of my waking hours, when I'm not in meetings for work, are spent advancing my reading. I also require my work to contribute strongly to my intellectual development, by discussions and readings.

I love to write, so I would hope that I'm literate, in order for others to understand what I'm trying to convey. I believe that I have my own style, and I tend to stay away from 'writing trends'.

There was a time in my life when I was completely illiterate. As far as trends, I am not aware of any writing trends .

I left school at the age of 15 because of the problems I had with reading and writing
Only ever wrote one letter 🙂

Yes. Staying connected to the writing trends heals lot of wounds.

Writing trends has nothing to do with literacy.

no, my english is good enough that i'm understood, i missed out on my education and had learning disabilities, so didn't do too bad considering.
I don't keep up with writing trends any more than I keep up with clothing trends.

But I'm quite literate with my own trend.
I dont bother with trends of any kind

I don't read/write much these days. And what I read is usually nonfiction now sad to say.
