What was the last book you have read?

The last book I've read was Howards End by E.M. Forster, and at the moment I read The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro.
I am reading The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.
I am also re-reading Raptor Red by Paleontologist Dr. Robert T. Bakker.💓

On a lighter side I have some hot blooded Scottish dragon fae fantasy:
Fire Rising A Dark Knights Novel by Donna Grant.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Idk how you can do this. I've a family member who is always into 3 or 4 books at once. I tell her "This is how books don't get finished!"

I'm too anal to read more than one at a time, I guess :)
@hlpflwthat Are you sure that 'anal' is the correct word?... 🤔😕🙃

Let me tell you, the book has to be extraordinarily engrossing on multiple levels:
Fulfill me completely. Sweep me away to other worlds.
The author has to be a master story weaver, and then some.
I am not easy to please and I LOVE books.

And only then, will I be satisfied with one book.
And having said that, I am usually reading up on some books related to health anyhow.

I NEED books in my life. I am a bibliophile 🤗📖💓

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I am not at all sure. Perhaps simple would better describe me lol.

I do tend to seek out authors that engross, as you say. And to be fair, I still supplement those with a couple hours of Current Events and Opinion most every morning.

I recently finished "The Forgotten Genius of Oliver Heaviside: A Maverick of Electrical Science" by Basil Mathon.

At the moment, I'm reading "A World Without Time: The Forgotten Legacy of Godel and Einstein" by Palle Yourgrau.

The Remains of the Day is a great one. I'm reading mostly non-fiction right now, but the last work of fiction I read was The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson.

@SW-User I have read The Remains of the Day only halfway till now, but I agree: it is great. Have you seen the adaptation with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson?
SW-User
@Settembrini I haven't, but I'd like to. Many people saw the film first, but I'm glad to have read it first.
Settembrini · 51-55, M
@SW-User It has been a long time since I saw the movie, but it is recommendable.

Caesar: A Scetch by J.A. Froude, a British Historian, written in 1879. Great to get the perspective of someone living in the heyday of the British Empire.
In both cases they had to keep a watchful eye on the Germans 🙂

Oh! How’d you like Howards End? I just started watching the show so now I’ll have to read the book. LOL
Settembrini · 51-55, M
@JustNik Howards End is excellent.

'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte. And it was last month - not back in school! I wanna read each of the Bronte sisters. Kinda fascinating. :)
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
No place to hide by Glenn Greenwald

@hlpflwthat you want to unplug from the world after reading it. It's disturbing how prevalent spying is on everyone.
hlpflwthat · M
@FreeSpirit1 Yeah - I wondered if it would bum me out exactly that way. We really haven't a clue, do we. And the tech from that book is what - 3 years old now? Ancient.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@hlpflwthat my son had it and it looked interesting so I started reading it, it's a few years old so I'm sure they can snoop on everyone easier today. They are getting some pushback from private companies but the NSA finds a way regardless.

Last book was Book 1 of the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. Current one is book 2 of the same trilogy.
