I have often driven through Bristol in the past but never tried driving around it or parking there. I know a building tradesman living in Somerset, who tells me he is having to consider seriously whether to take on any work within Bath city centre because the congestion charge is so steep.

@ArishMell Congestion charge? In Bath? I didn't know about that.
As for the summer frock, I haven't really got one. I have dresses but not really any of the sort that seem suited to the heat. I wonder if I might see one in a charity shop today. Perhaps I'll try to find one.

@ninalanyon I didn't until he told me, and I don't know its details. I may be wrong - it might be that the council is considering introducing it; but either way it would make working in the city very expensive.
I don't know Bath very well but since it lies on the main A4 along the Avon valley, with another busy, North-South route across it, a congestion-charge would rake in a lot of money. Through-traffic East-West can bypass Bath completely though.
