In ancient Rome, it was common for the inscription to be words that the deceased is speaking to the passer-by. One of the most popular was, "sum quod eris, fui quod es." That is, "I am what you will be, I was what you are."

I wouldn't mind that on my tombstone.

whoever feels concerned about my death can write something they like on it, that would be nice. I think it would also be nice if whoever loves me could write their name on my tomb
