Got a new computer yesterday, a laptop, Acer Aspire E 15

I like it, and it works like a charm. Good thing, because as I was moving my old system to my other desk, a Frankensteined desktop machine I had thrown together last year, I somehow fucked the HDD, even though I was SO gentle in moving it. It will no longer boot. OMFG. Such is my luck.

Would have been nice to grab all my stuff, my 50 gigs of music, ect. *sigh*

But this machine here is nice and fast, and stable, so I'm not all that put out by needing to "start over" with it.

Trying to remember all my passwords though was a nightmare, and I'm still not into everything I need to be. The memory of this new machine is great. My own memory, is terrible.

Have you considered an SSD? Bumps and whatnot to the system still do some amount of damage to it but no where near as much as an HDD. And boy are those things fast. Sytems are so fast nowadays that HDDs might as well be phased out completely. They’re a crazy throttle point for everything.

Might I suggest you invest in an external drive to back your stuff up to. You can use online storage as well if you choose, sometimes not practical for large amounts though. Good luck with the new laptop.
