Is your Ideal vacation at an all inclusive resort or sightseeing and doing your own thing?

ShadowWorker · 61-69, F
We live a life that we do not need a vacation from. It's an inclusive place with beautiful sightseeing in itself. Acres of woods, we live in a holler 😊 engulfed by two mountain ridges and a large year around creek filled with trout.
We are blessed and I give thanks every day!
ShadowWorker · 61-69, F
@Stereoguy yes... and we give thanks every day!

@Stereoguy yes!!!!
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
Sightseeing and doing as many things as possible with as little money as possible. I would not stay inside even if the weather was horrible.
Lilymoon · F
@HannibalAteMeOut yeah it's a vacay after all
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Sightseeing and doing my own thing. I think staying at a resort might be relaxing but spending money on an airline ticket and then confining yourself to one location means you are going to miss out on a whole lot. I love going to bazaars and local shops and little food stalls and restaurants, walking around and seeing the sights.

@Lilymoon Someone called and tried to convince me to go to Disney and Epcot center telling me the various features. They mentioned the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot center. I told her I’d been to Morocco and there was no way they would replicate the experience of actually going to the country and walking down through the medina bazaars, smelling the spices, the fresh herbs, the incense that they were burning in the stalls, the smell of the variety of food stall offerings, the sounds of donkey carts and horses clip-clopping through the streets, the music being played, and the vendors yelling & hawking their wares. The restaurant food offerings at Epcot Morocco would be limited to a handful of varieties as well.
Lilymoon · F
@cherokeepatti oh for sure.... no comparison at all
DYI . I’m not fond of all-inclusive. And I can only last a max of 4days
Lilymoon · F
@CookieCrumbs Well we were planning New York City in the Spring but now we're thinking maybe Phoenix during winter or a resort somewhere can't decide. 🤪
@Lilymoon
I want to go to Phoenix.
We had to cancel a trip at the beginning of the pandemic.

I’m so brain tired right now, I’d take an all-inclusive next week. 🤣 do nothing but sleep and read a book.
Lilymoon · F
@CookieCrumbs yeah that was my thinking too.... just go somewhere and veg out. haha

Sightseeing and doing my own thing. I did enjoy the one time I went to an all inclusive resort though. So much food 😆
Lilymoon · F
@SW-User Oh I know but that's one of the best parts haha ....oh and the drinking 🤪 lmao
SW-User
@Lilymoon drinking into profit 🤪

I do prefer staying at an all inclusive resort for the convenience but I like to get out and wander around town, eating at local restaurants, and sightseeing
Darin99branch · 51-55, M
Sightseeing and on my own.
carpediem · 61-69, M
How about sailing between the islands in the BVI’s during the day. Tie to a mooring in the evening, have dinner ashore and party with friends.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt Foxy’s is on that island as I recall. Yes, several times. Direct sail from Anegada.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@carpediem for several years in the mid 90’s my dad and a bunch of retired judges would rent several 50 foot sail boats and tinker around the Caribbean for a few weeks in winter
Jost Van Dyke was his Fave island .
carpediem · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt what’s not go like? I’m partial to the Spanish virgins too.

Sightseeing and doing my own thing, with a group of friends. Touring around Europe or Southeast Asia, ideally. It’s part of the reason why I’ve never been that interested in a cruise, since it’s so structured.
Ontheroad · M
On the road! Love spontaneous road trips and seeing what I see, stopping where I want and heading out each morning in whatever direction suits my fancy.
Lilymoon · F
@Ontheroad for sure..., that's always nice
Boleuskas · M
Sight seeing, I dont care were I sleep and shower, I enjoy seeing new rhings and exploring
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Boleuskas I like to go out driving and see the scenery, stop at random restaurants if it seems like the food might be good, go to a lake, forest or beach…pick up shells or rocks from the area. You don’t really see how life is in a resort location, it is tourists and employees. I want to see the culture too. Every area is a bit different even in different regions of countries.
Boleuskas · M
@cherokeepatti I totaly agree that is real vacation 🥰
Fluffybull · F
Doing my own thing and moving as I choose. I'd hate to be stuck in one place or, even worse, on a cruise! 😱😱😱😱
Lilymoon · F
@Fluffybull Yeah I'm not a fan of cruises
Lanyx · 41-45, M
Do my own thing. My last vacation, I had a fool-proof plan: "The plan is not to have a plan".
Basically, do what I feel like.
Ducky · 31-35, F
Either would work for me. So long as I got a beach, a drink and a two-piece, I’m golden. 😎
Lilymoon · F
@Ducky yup... doesn't take much for me either 😁
Byron8by7 · M
I have done both, and I like(d) both. I wish I could go on a sightseeing road trip, though.
I like doing my own thing at my own pace.
Lilymoon · F
@Bexsy yup... resort you could probably do that too it's just you're stuck on the resort
SW-User
i love cruises
waking up in a different place every day
XDHyperGirlXD1 · 31-35, F
Eating all your butter tarts sounds like a fun holiday for me 😏
Pretzel · 61-69, M
doing my own thing - finding the local restaurants
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
Ideally - worrywart me likes all inclusive. Safe and everything is relaxing

But fun wise - Doing your own thing is more invigorating and rewarding.
Lilymoon · F
@LunarOrbit pros and cons to both
Barny52 · 56-60, M
Did enjoy a cruise with inclusive food and drinks then stop at a new place for sightseeing every day, best of 2 of them
Fluffybull · F
@Barny52 I'd probably spend all day eating and drinking if I went on a cruise. They could use me as an anchor by the time it was over.....😆😆😉
Barny52 · 56-60, M
@Fluffybull did a few while we had live in dog sitter but won’t leave dogs now daughter as moved, our med cruises were the best each morning a new place to visit, Greek islands were brilliant, yep food was unbelievable put stacks of weight on !!
GovanDUNNY · M
Had a great fortnight at Flamingo Oasis before pandemic it was fantastic [media=https://youtu.be/ka8zRWuSk7g] ,might go again in November
Lilymoon · F
@GovanDUNNY Nice!!
Both, I love a good all inclusive resort and you can take day trips to areas of interest
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Stay the fuck home. It`s cheaper. 😬
Lilymoon · F
@Degbeme Oh Deggy 🤣
Rutterman · 46-50, M
Definitely sightseeing and doing my own thing.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
Both? All inclusive with extrusions.
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Doing my own thing.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
I do my own thing
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Ive never stayed at an all inclusive . I ho with the flow on holidays. Sometimes i dont make it back to my hotel. I love adventure
Bang5luts · M
Doing my own thing. I know I may miss some great things in life but don't things this way, on the other hand being stuck on a tour bus with people I don't know sight seeing isn't really my thing.
Lilymoon · F
@Bang5luts Yup I can relate
Bang5luts · M
@Lilymoon besides, you cant be adventurous in the back of a tour bus, unless you're on a band tour bus. 😆
SW-User
I'd say it's more of just doing my thing. Really miss the cabin in the woods, the quiet and peace and just having a fire pit.... lots of trails and things to see without getting in a vehicle. Lots more to see if I chose to take a drive.
Now, my vacation is my back yard where I have a lot of what I miss about the cabin. :)

Sightseeing and doing your own thing

Resorts are bland and generic
Cruises are polluting Petri dishes

empanadas · 31-35, M
Doing my own thing. Resorts are overpriced and overrated. Also you don't get to explore the area you are at
Lilymoon · F
@empanadas technically you can explore but you have to hire someone from the resort to take you into town and on their time. So yeah not as ideal.
MethDozer · M
Neither really. Lawan chair by the fire next to the water with a tent and a drink.
Lilymoon · F
@MethDozer 🍻
