The power of words

Again Biden has spoken. and apparently has upset may around the world with his remarks [image deleted]

I don’t have an issue with Biden speaking his mind. Considering that he has personally seen the thousands of Ukraine refugees at the Polish train station who have lost their homes because of this war.
Yes, he has potentially “irritated” the Kremlin and Putin. But hey, who us the butcher/bully in this situation? There does need to be less of the softly softly approach. I’m all in favour of a strong United front from NATO.

Hasn't upset anyone I know of in the world. If you could give some references, that would help.

We are not getting any closer to a WW3 because of anything Biden is saying. Biden is playing this very well according to a lot of independent and respected organisations around the world.

As to the ridiculous idea floated that the Military would not obey Biden if he ordered them to go to War, you have lost any sense of what is going on. There is no hint of Biden doing like going to War.

But these days the US President has to look overseas to get any impartial comment.
@Zeusdelight Read the Washington Post article.,it will give you the information as to what his remarks resulted in.

Did you see a position where I stated anything related to the military disregarding his orders?

What I have said is that his gaffes can be misconstrued by Putin and his military.

@soar2newhighs There were other people who spoke about the Military disregarding his words.

I think what Biden said is what Putin needs to hear and understand. He can not involve the US in any direct way, so words are his only weapon and he is using them sparingly.
His people rushed to contain the fallout (no pun in light of the mention of nuclear weapons in this crisis) from his unscripted remarks. It certainly did not go unnoticed and it is uncertain where that puts the administration on foreign policy and perhaps its credibility.

His people and his party need to really look at him. Gaffes and mistakes like this especially being he is in Poland during the conflict, supposedly trying to effect positive things regarding the conflict can be very much misconstrued and possibly exacerbate the situation.

its all in context of what was said . a russian would say that was wrong and a ukraine would say that was a good thing.
its not like Sen. Lindsey Graham's suggestion that Russians should assassinate President Vladimir Putin has which has drawn the ire of Republicans and Democrats alike.

which in your mind is worse . killing or can not remain in power.

@SpiritualMan If that had happened, we’d know about it. There’s no way they could keep that secret. However, nothing to worry about as Biden has not ordered troops into Ukraine. But if he did, the military would obey. The military can’t pick and choose what conflicts they approve of. They can only disobey an illegal order, and being sent to Ukraine would not be illegal any more than being sent to Iraq or Afghanistan was.

@SpiritualMan Thousands of people would have been involved. It's impossible to keep something like that secret.

If you're talking about a discussion between Biden and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and they convinced him that sending troops to Ukraine would be a bad idea, we wouldn't know about that. But if formal orders were issued and ignored, that would be huge news and would result in court-martials for a lot of people.

However, Biden is well aware that Ukraine is not a NATO country and we are not obligated to send troops to defend it, plus there is no stomach for that in the US. So we are sending money and armaments, and working on ways to get planes and other heavy equipment to Ukraine instead.
