Trump lawyer says she's told him all litigation involving the former president 'will stop' if he announces he's not running for office in 2024

A Trump lawyer said investigations into the former president would stop if he didn't run for office in 2024.
The Department of Justice executed an FBI raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, seeking classified documents.
Attorney Alina Habba said the raid would increase support among Trump's base.
A lawyer for Donald Trump said all investigations into the former president would stop if he were to announce he won't run for president in 2024.
"If he's not leading in the polls – I've sat across from him, every time he gets frustrated, I say to him: 'Mr. President, if you would like me to resolve all your litigation, you should announce that you are not running for office, and all of this will stop,'" Trump attorney Alina Habba said on Real America's Voice on Friday. "That's what they want."
I don't understand at all where the idea comes from that no one wants the guy to run. That's the complete opposite. In fact, I'll even donate to his campaign to get him to run! He's so easy to defeat in an election he should run every time. Even when he was new, different and exciting in 2016 he lost by nearly three million votes. Then when people saw how incredibly stupid he is and a sorry piece of an excuse for a human being he lost by more than twice that in '20, He should run every time and just keep humiliating himself by losing over and over again.

This is the legal defense his lawyers have come up with concerning the FBI raid. Well they had to think of something. And this is what they came up with. That's what they get paid for. You're posting this like it's some kind of revelation. Which is exactly what they knew you and other Trumpers would do.
Unless the "Trump lawyer" was offered a deal, I'd be more concerned that the DOJ will drop any potential prosecution of Trump if he announces his candidacy, to avoid the appearance of going after a candidate for political reasons. This was one reason why some commentators thought Trump would announce his candidacy for 2024 this summer instead of waiting until after the midterms.
However, since Trump is making bank from his supporters and only stands to make more now after the raid, making a formal announcement that he is running in 2024 means he will be under campaign finance law. So he will probably wait as long as possible to announce. This has the added benefit of sabotaging the campaigns of any potential rivals since they can't announce their own campaigns if there's any chance Trump is running.
