I Hate It When People Tell Me to Smile

I can definitely see your point there.
There is nothing worse than a painted on expression and it can reinforce bad experiences when one was not happy but forced to look like it.

@Pfuzylogic I have also had many instances where I was being emotionally abused and they had a sickly sweet smile on their face while twisting a knife in my back

Thoughts like that would piss me off.
Childhood memories always have to be managed so that we can stay sane.

@SW-User Thank you. Seeing others happy does make me happy, so if I smile as a response to a smile, it would be genuine

@Stevy Smiling isn’t bad. Being TOLD to smile is.

@wilderflower I guess, I don't mind it. I take it as a person who cares enough to bring me up when I am down. I guess some people don't want that 🤷‍♂️. But I understand where your coming from.
