Im an white girl with braids

I dont see what the issue is but girls are giving me shit for it. Its only an hair style. Its not like im mocking anyone or pretending to be anyone. And its white girls who are giving me shit for it at work. No black girl has said anything about it. Ive always appericated many cultures , especially japenese , I used to wear lolita at college , I liked the clothes , that was it. My art teacher got me to do my art project on it afterwards, I dont see the issue with wearing something from an different culture. I never thought about getting braids until an group of indian women wanted to braid my hair in tennifere. I just want to be left alone. I was scared of going into work as I have bad anxitey , I have fine hair so they last for about 2 or 3 weeks , I just wanted to get the most out of them as they hurt when I got them done. I would love to learn how to braid my own hair , I think its beautiful on any girl. If theres actually an genuine reason why its bad , tell me because Im so confused to whats so wrong about an hair style.
