When my Dad was in nursing school in the early 70's, supplements were starting to become popular. He was told by his dietary professor that they were extremely dangerous because they were not regulated by the FDA. One cereal that had come out during that time was called Total, that boasted having 100% recommended daily allowance of multiple vitamins and minerals. What the advertisers deliberately failed to say was that if you ate a bowl in the morning, you risked overdosing from eating anything else that day.

@NativeOregonian I'm vegan so I supplement with a vegan vitamin d3 and B12. I tend to agree with you though, I wouldn't over do and I don't take a multi vitamin for fear of overdose.
