Dem Rep. David Cicilline In House Hearing: ‘Spare Me The Bullshit About Constitutional Rights’

During a House Judiciary Committee meeting to discuss gun control and red flag laws, Rep. David Cicilline, D-RI, told Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and the rest of the country what he thinks about your Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms — and presumably every other right enumerated in the Bill of Rights.

“Spare me the bullshit about constitutional rights,” he screamed at Gaetz.

Democrats seem to think the only right to be allowed is abortion.

I’ve never said I. In favor of leaving the gun situation as is. We have the 2nd Amendment here which the UK does not. That alone will prevent the elimination of gun ownership. Polls shows the 2nd will never go away. So it’s a question of what to do that’s properly in line with the 2nd while elongating problems created by criminals and whackos. If guns didn’t exist in a lot of cases those folks would use another method. What is their method of choice in the UK? Sportsman’s own guns in the UK. What are the rules about that? Personally I own no guns even though I do have a carry permit (a story for another day). @room101

@jackjjackson Apparently, polls show that approx 80% of Americans want meaningful gun ownership restrictions. Look, I know that it's easy for me as an outsider to say "get all guns off your streets", I know that your gun culture is totally alien to my way of thinking and living. I simply cannot comprehend living in a country where active shooter drills are attended by anybody not going into a conflict zone of some kind. Out of everybody that I know I'm the only civilian that has undergone such training. Long may it stay that way.

I was talking to a Spanish friend on Friday about this issue, he came up with a suggestion that may have some merit. Tax all ammo so that it becomes prohibitively expensive. That way, the pro 2nd A contingent keep their guns but they become little more than rather perverse wall art.

@jackjjackson An illustration of the difference between Europe and America on the gun issue.

Here's the Bill of Rights if rewritten by today's modern Democrat Party.
* The right to taxpayer-funded abortions shall not be infringed.

That's it. That's their definition of liberty.

@Roadsterrider And I'm sorry to say that in 2016, your electoral college selected an unqualified egomaniac who is a proven liar and a cheat. Despite the fact that he had 3m votes less than his far more qualified and experienced opponent.

Your election system is as dysfunctional as is your overall political system.

@sunsporter1649 224 "knife" homocides multiplied five (in order to give a reasonable comparison by population size) = 1,120

Compared to almost 21,000 gun deaths (excluding suicides) in the USA so far this year.

https://www.thetrace.org/2021/12/gun-violence-data-stats-2021/

Guess the mantle of homicidal maniacs falls squarely on the shoulders of the good ol' U S of A!
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@room101 LOL, 1 in 290,000 will be assaulted in the UK, as opposes to 1 in 1,400,000 in the USA, play with the numbers all you wish
room101 · 51-55, M
@sunsporter1649 Guess you missed the part that we're only six months into this year huh?

The UK figure is for all of 2021, the USA figure is for 2022 thus far!

He has such contempt for the right of the people to bear arms.
How does he feel about the right of the people to free speech,
The right of the people to peacefully assemble,
the right to redress their government.
the right of the people to be secure in their home, papers and effects,
the people's right to a speedy trial,
the peoples right to a trial by jury,
the right of the people to not endure cruel and unusual punishment,
the right of the people to not be forced to quarter soldiers, nor have property seized.
the people's right to freedom of religion.
If one of the rights can be struck down it will be the justification to strike them all down.
@Roadsterrider The 2nd Amendment was established to make sure all the other Amendments written at the time could be defended
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Excellent point. Would make it difficult for totalitarian wannabes.
room101 · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson is that a threat Jack?😱 How very American of you😂😂😂
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You have decided that
being necessary to the security of a free State
no longer exists and you may therefore change the meaning of the sentence. On the contrary it ALWAYS exists see for example 2022 Ukraine.

@sunsporter1649 If I ever decide to live somewhere populated by bears then maybe I'll get myself a suitable means of protection.

How many times has the average gun fetishist in America been confronted by a bear?

Democrats on Monday: "We need to pass legislation protecting precious abortion so we can kill children!"
Democrats on Tuesday: "We need to pass legislation banning guns so we can protect children!" Can't seem to make up their minds.

I see a time when politicians like Cicilline find out exactly why the Founders included the 2nd amendment and just how it works regarding tyranny

Some politicians are simply selective in their use of /criticism and disdain for the Constitution. The swearing, the grandstanding by Democrats isn’t so much about the horrific shootings we’ve seen as it is their fear of the midterm elections.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@soar2newhighs after all, it's not going away!
@Changeisgonnacome Arms sales and the benefits derived, from military systems to the basic hand gun is a money making proposition. The buyers, seller and users all are complicit in those who die because of them.

@sunsporter1649 you shouldn't brag about it screw up.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
It isnt about Democracy. Its about Humanity. And the Republicans and the gun lobby are willing to harvest people. As long as they can keep their guns. Untermench anyone?😷
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman You mean like the fine job the left-wing nut-job marxists are doing in chicago?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 Yes.. That..
carpediem · 61-69, M
No surprise. Even the president doesn’t believe the constitution is absolute.
4meAndyou · F
I heard that, and couldn't even believe it. The flag, the Constitution, and the bible are ALL part of these hypocrites swearing in ceremonies. He should have spit upon the bible used to swear him in, and torn the Constitution in two, and defecated upon the flag...because that is who he IS.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
All thinking people always knew it was.
