Gives me the impression property taxes are to high.

@Virgo79 exactly. And no way you're going to talk about doing it. Shift to the no tax thing. Any other subject. Americans will not allow it.

@Changeisgonnacome lets hope🤞

I love how the greenies think they can just slap a solar panel on roof, plug it in, and start magically making electricity...
besides the panels, you need a place to mount them (not practical for people with limited space, shade from nearby trees), an inverter, and the batteries for storage... and a lot of room to install the subsystems; regular maintenance & repair (panels don't last forever).
So in other words, you spend $10,000-$20,000 installing a fancy solar system that'll provide about half of your daily energy needs; only works half a day, and is completely useless in heavy cloud/fog cover...

@wildbill83 think I'm not doing it? Just think me away? Like, that's totally cool. All the kids who plays football is doing it. Bang your head. Cause metal health will drive you mad.

Do you want the government to force you to lose weight and eat your vegetables? Quit smoking?
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@redredred let's be sure we can't regulate? No. The speed limit, for example.

@Changeisgonnacome there is no constitutional right to drive a car. There is a right to life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Read up on it, it’s fascinating.

We shouldn't compare it to property taxes, we should compare it to the cost of power plants. And the economics of solar and wind do vary by region. Tree cover is also a vital resource so can't just bulldoze all trees to make solar work either.
The calculation to do is the cost of making solar and wind free for those with the right conditions, nationalizing the power grid, and nationalizing power companies.
If we can do that for the same amount that power companies are subsidized plus the cost of the public's power bills that would no longer be paid then it is worth doing economically. It might still be worth doing for a little more if we can use removing profit motive to drive faster transitions to clean energy.
I don't know what the results of those calculations would be.

@sunsporter1649 in the case of medical care, transportation and retirement, we know government is more efficient than business.

They are in the EU thats comming, then they will probably end up taxing people for producing to much electricity lol
