@originnone Watch the video again. There were people in denial about Hitler, too. They couldn’t believe someone coming from Austria or Germany, such "civilized" nations, could be a part of something as horrible as outright genocide. So they refused to look until it was too late. I hope a failed insurrection will be the extent of what "too late" means with Trump. But people are still making excuses and refusing to see obvious parallels.

@bijouxbroussard Oh, his followers are nuts. I'm not denying that. When Hillary said "band of deplorables" she was right on. I'm just not willing to equate someone to Hitler until they've done the things he did while in power. Trump may have the same tendencies, but I don't want to water down the things hitler did.

@originnone No, but part of not letting it ever happen again is watching for similarities in how it was able to take hold and convince otherwise rational people to accept it. I had a professor who was a German teenager in 1933.

She said people dismissed Hitler and the brown shirts as "thugs" and insisted no one would take him seriously for long.

I don’t know if anyone told you Trump couldn’t possibly become president, but in 2015 it was all I was hearing.

But if we wait this time until people are being put in internment camps, we will have let things go too far again.

Speaking for myself, saying "I told you so" would give me no pleasure in that situation. 😳

@bijouxbroussard I don't disagree that the potential for him being reelected is possible. And I was one of the ones who went to bed early because there was ZERO chance he could be elected. And....I thought the four years should be a big nothing....I mean...how many presidents actually don't really run the country but hire people do do it. Some of my favorite presidents did.

There ARE parallels. Not everyone is as astute as you. I get concerned that comparing trump to hilter downplays the holocaust, which many people already deny....

I had numerous family members murdered in the Holocaust.
