@Strictgram says
DeSantis approves facts not leftist propaganda.
The sad truth is that DeSantis & his ilk in FL are banning factual books about US history. They've banned books about Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman for God's sake!!
In the wake of public controversy surrounding the bill, here are {some} books banned in Duval County. The following come from a list of 176 removed books in the county by Pen America, a nonprofit that advocates for freedom of expression in literature.

“The Life of Rosa Parks” is a biography of the life of the late civil rights leader who was arrested after not giving up her seat on a segregated bus system. It is part of a series about the life of historical icons adapted for children. Similar to the other books in this list, it has been removed from libraries and classrooms until further review.

“Carter Reads the Newspaper” is a biographical book about the life of Carter Godwin Woodson. Carter was born to two formerly enslaved parents who encouraged him to read the newspaper to be informed on current events. He was an African American historian who was one of the first to study the history of the African diaspora, which led to the creation of Black History Month.

“Black Frontiers” is a historical account of black pioneers who settled the western United States. It retells stories of African-American miners, homesteaders, cowboys and gold rushers. The book has many photographs of their life on the frontier.

“Before She Was Harriet” details the famed life of the iconic women who helped the enslaved escape through the Underground Railroad. The book uses poetry and watercolors to show off her exploits.

“The Double Life of Pocahontas” is a biographical account of the life of the famed indigenous woman who befriended the residents of the Jamestown colony. The book aims to dispel the myths around her life that are romanticized in popular media and details her lived experience.
@ron122 You really love fluffing fascists, don't you?
Strictgram · 70-79, C
@Graylight Your usual leftist nonsense.
@Strictgram Interesting you can never provide an actual counter argument.

"NO! You are wrong!" stopped being valid somewhere around age 5.
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
The whole idea of 'lawful history' is as bizarre as 'alternative facts'. Whatever happened to 'truth' and 'lies'?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Thomas52 This is the issue with the Republicans. I had the most interesting conversations with two dyed-in-the-wool conservatives recently, and both explained in the most amiable terms possible that I believe what I believe and they believe their way and we're all free to choose and God bless the USA.

Except that anyone with more than a GED-equivalent education understands that not every debate is one side v. the other. Sometimes, very often, in fact, there is the right side and the wrong answer based on misinformation, poor calculation or laziness. You can argue that 4+4=7. You cannot expect your argument to make lies truth.
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@Graylight Frustrating, sad and actually dangerous if you decide that, say, traffic laws are just a matter of opinion or worse, that disease, illness and death only affect you believe in them. 🤦‍♂️
ron122 · 41-45, M
You should read the bill, so you actually know what is in it before you post your propaganda.
@Strictgram
@Graylight DeSantis approves facts not leftist propaganda.
Wow. You really are clueless. The idea that a politician has to approve "factual" information by definition makes it political propaganda and not fact.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Strictgram Undeniable? Prove one instance in which liberals suppressed free speech and were found liable in denying federal rights. We’ll need the adjudication and details of the case.

Absolutely nothing you’ve been told here is factually wrong or in contrast to what’s going on within the state. There are already multiple lawsuits against wither the governor or the state.

There’s having your principles and desires; it’s another entirely to remove yourself from reality. But if that’s your choice, may I suggest you take the ignorant hatefulness as well?

No way! Governor DeMentis is doing racist things?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@LordShadowfire I wonder how things would've gone had everyone talked to glibly about Hitler.
