San Francisco Elections Chief Gets Fired Over Being The Wrong Skin Color

John Arntz, who has been the city’s elections department chief for 20 years, has been repeatedly praised for his excellent performance at this increasingly important job — important because of so many election challenges and doubts. Just two years ago, the election commission commended him for his ‘incredible leadership,’”

Arntz was told by the city, “Our decision wasn’t about your performance, but after twenty years we wanted to take action on the city’s racial equity plan and give people an opportunity to compete for a leadership position,” the commentary said.
they gunna slip in a black latino chinese jew half muslim transitioning lesbian who can never be questioned about election integrity..

I hope they end up with someone as bad as Karine Jean-Pierre.

@ron122 They probably will and they won't care.

Everyone agrees he has done a superb job. But he does nothing for "diversity goals."
@graphite I am not a fan of him. I still think it's wrong that he was fired due to his identity. He should've been fired for his work ethic instead. I feel that city of Sf should apologize and simply transfer Arntz to another department. Maybe Arntz could work for BART instead? I am no fan of BART either. I think BART is a mess that needs new ideas. BART has fallen down so low, I doubt Arntz could make it any worse. I doubt Arntz would be able to make BART any better though...
He could have changed his identity into something that they have not encountered yet. For example, he could have identified himself as a "Giants Fan" for his race. If anybody questioned him about his new identity, he could mention that the SF Giants are a marginalized group of baseball players who never win many games and further marginalize their fans by charging overpriced tickets to smelly stadiums which sell watery beer and mediocre food at expensive prices. The SF Giants are in a RACE to the bottom of any sports team to root for!

Mr. Arntz won't be missed anyways. Arntz was one of the politicians who didn't do much to improve life in San Francisco. Kinda think he's looking for excuses. That being sad, I also think that the city council was wrong to make up a phoney excuse to fire him. I hope Arntz will reveal any and all corruption and scandals that are being held secret by the city of SF. I am not a fan of Arntz. I am not a fan of the politcal system in SF. I also wish that San Francisco would lower the price for both public transit and BART.

I believe the best person should have the job, regardless of the colour of your skin or sex

@soar2newhighs Frisco pols doesn't have to worry. The place is 99% Democrat. Democrats will NEVER lose there.
If I read the news story correctly he had a “ contract” with the city? He has to apply to renew it? Is that right?
To hell with the nonsense of racial factors if someone is as qualified (as many say Arntz is ) or more qualified than Arntz their qualifications, not their race should be the determining factor.
And it seems to have pitted Political San Franciscans against each other.
One last question: Is Arntz a Democrat or Republican or what political affiliation?

@MarmeeMarch it's forgiven. I feel that he definitely deserves to work in sanitation. His first act could be to clean up his own life by respecting ordinary voters! Plenty of bums in city council though...

Competence doesn't matter. "We don't care if this XLWEHRTEI@#$%% person did a bad job. What matters is this person is XLWEHRTEI@#$%%."
