You know, I've really warmed up to "the R-word"

I used to hate it a lot, and I felt super self righteous about it at the time but honestly I think I just hated it bc douches in high school used to call me it. But now I really enjoy the abject derisiveness and bluntness of it. And at this point in history, it's largely deviated from its roots as a slur against disabled people, and morphed into a general insult sorta the way 'lame' and 'stupid' have.

Plus I'm probably autistic, so I'll be allowed to say it willy-nilly if I ever get a diagnosis. God damn, this honestly makes me wanna get a diagnosis more.

I'm quite a bit older than you, so I have seen quite a few changes in attitude regarding mental health.

There always was a certain stigma against using certain words. Even in my father's time which goes back to the 1920s. Also he was as liberal as they come.

Yet even he discouraged me from saying anything negative against others. Considering it a childish thing to do. That attitude has prevailed onto this society.

What is totally ironic is that old attitude was started by the religious right. And now has morphed into being totally acceptable by the very same people that objected in using such language.

That is why I say that conservatives really are no longer conservative. They are something else that has no description.

My brother's inlaws would be totally applauded by today's language used in conservative groups. And yes they truly were life long ultra right conservatives. They were as well older than my father by about ten years.

That's basically over 100 years at minimum that it wasn't acceptable.
Youre a good young man finding your way. Dont think guys like me with an opinion thats not identical, dislike you in any way.

Sounds to me like it's just evolved and then devolved, then. When I was a kid, it was used to mean anything stupid or lame, and then in the 90s it became the word you couldn't say.
