The first few times I voted, it was in a fire station on a mechanical lever machine like that. The way you read results from one of those machines is thru rows of numbered wheels behind a panel in the back.
So who's to say that, after the polls "close" someone couldn't spin a few wheels forward and a few wheels back? Also, you have limited possibilities for a recount.
Paper ballots can be recounted by machine and by hand. You can't just flip a wheel and add or subtract 100 votes to a tally.

The first has less than a 1% chance of being true. The second is a less sensible way of my statement that once digitized date may be capable of manipulation.
PS I fervently wish that both Trump and Biden retire immediately and head overseas on a golf outing together as long as they are watched so they don’t get lost. Imagine the cheating of balls being kicked from behind trees etc by those two. In addition, the Camel need to be replaced prior to the Biden resignation by someone who is sane and won’t run again. For example Chris Coons.

@jackjjackson I too would be glad to put them both in the rear view mirror. I don't see them as equivalently vain or corrupt though. Biden is a fairly typical American politician, although his history of personal loss has humanized him more than most. Trump I see as uniquely vain and uniquely corrupt. You've probably read some of the stories about Trump's legendary golf cheating; he seems to take the same approach to most business and tax matters. Biden isn't like that.
I'll admit that Trump probably started with more native smarts than Biden. The YUGE problem is Trump really seems to believe he's always the smartest one in the room. Trump can't take advice from experts. Worse, Trump's ego needs to prove the experts wrong and/or fire them for disagreeing. A presidency depends on the abilities of the whole team, and Trump's team, while it may have started with plenty of talent, narrowed down to the yes-men who wouldn't oppose him.
Remember when the withdrawal from Afghanistan was botched? Biden took responsibility. He didn't have to. Doubtless he told the Pentagon "give me a date you can be out by and make a plan." No president gets down in the logistical weeds, and Biden could have blamed a few generals and fired them.
But Biden took responsibility. I can't see Trump EVER showing loyalty to his people like that. I can't see Trump EVER taking the blame for a failure at lower levels. Trump's pathology is very dangerous, and we dodged more than a bullet when his Jan 6 insurrection failed.

Nit picking. Is poison ivy better or worse than poison oak. Regardless of relativity they both need to be gone. @ElwoodBlues

I clearly recall my first votes I casted at 18 yoa on earlier lever voting mechanical machines such as this one I used in the 70s...
More privacy that you don't have using today's computer-driven machines standing on stilts. As a computer professional, I can see how Diebold machines can be easily hacked and furthermore note that their coding algorithm is proprietary so you can't review it. Excellent territory for malicious intent.

I vote to go back to these mechanical gems. @PatKirby

Integrity in a process comes from one independent public body setting a standard for voting and applying it nationally without local interference.. Never going to happen..😷

The point is that the DMV are fools everywhere. @whowasthatmaskedman
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@jackjjackson I know they have a bad reputation. But they are non partisan. Trump would wait in line like everyone else..😷
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Fortunately it’s virtually all online where I live. @whowasthatmaskedman
Nonsense
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You’re confused. When I ask you for proof your options are:
1. Provide it
2. Admit you’re wrong
NOT to pretend I did not ask first and start badgering me. Maybe you think that works when you watch MSNBC but it doesn’t in real life.

@Ryderbike
@jackjjackson You claim to people who don’t provide proof are filled with hot air. And you’re right. Now provide the evidence the election was stolen. Or just admit you’re hot air
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Never claimed any election was “stolen”. Your projection is on you not me @Ryderbike

I imagine you are all for getting rid of the automobile and going back to horse and buggy. Have you ditched your washing machine and making your wife wash your clothes in a stream with a rock?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You’ve made yourself look like a fool yet again. @independentone
independentone · M
@jackjjackson I know, you're just an old fashioned coward who regularly beats your wife.
Face it, you're just one of life's losers with no future and you're frustrated about it.

I used one once. They were fun!
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Better yet just hand count
No one will agree with you since everyone wants a trail of paper ballots for recounts etc,
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The problem with that it’s a false sense of security because who knows exactly which ballots are saved and which vanish. @Ryderbike
@jackjjackson The election workers know that represent both parties.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The paper is not watched 100% of the time. @Ryderbike
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
My ballot went in a sealed machine and I watched it get recieved
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Then what happens? It turns into numbers which are easily manipulated. @PTCdresser57
@jackjjackson and yet the hand recounts consistently verify the machine tallies.

pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve the problem with liars like you is you end up trapping yourself in your lies.
Now you’re going to slither like a snake to get out of the trap you set for yourself.
I’m not interested.
You have no credibility,

@Ryderbike so what lie have I trapped myself in?
