Congrats to the lettuce on a stunning victory.
Kami Kwasi and the Truss epic collapse were no match for the slow and steady decomposition of Mr L.

@Burnley123 🤷♀️ why not? we have our own comedian...
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Who has more stature and integrity that our professional politicians.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Burnley123 you set that bar low... i didn't vote for Zelenskiy but he is certainly the man for his time.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Update: The Daily Star journos have lights and disco-ball to make watching the lettuce decompose more entertaining. 😂
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Burnley123 😆 should not waste there time straight on the compost heap for the lettuce and truss
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
My money is on Truss, purely because the lettuce will go off faster than the Conseravatives can make a decision..😷
deadgerbil · 26-30
Lettuce covered in E. coli would last longer than Truss
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@deadgerbil That is a good analogy on more than one level.

@Burnley123 he likes to talk to plants... reminds him of his family.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna But plants usually have wider seed dispersal and a more diverse gene pool.
@Burnley123 I know... that's another thing I'm scared of...
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Too late, the lettuce won.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@samueltyler2 Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
mksworld · 46-50, C
@samueltyler2 Now we have Rishi's 'black "Asian" lettuce' to contend with.
MartinII · 70-79, M
I’m a bit surprised that you should be so triumphant about Truss’s imminent demise. Surely she is a gift to the left? No doubt it is too late to save the Conservatives at the next election, but won’t any successor be better than Truss?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII I'll be honest and say that I want the Conservatives to do badly. If their implosion takes the country down with them (as it would under Truss) then that is not a cost worth it. I care about the country more than elections and under a competent Tory, it will be bad but far less disastrous (from my perspective).
I'm not keen on Starmer anyway. He'd be a little different from Boris on economic policy and he is purging people like me from the Labour Party. I hope he wins the election though and I think he will.
Assuming Truss goes, the Tories will get a poll recovery but I don't think it will be enough because there is major damage to the Conservative brand. It's like how the ERM crash of the 90s damaged their credibility as sound economic managers, just worse. Some of that reputational damage might be contagious, even to Sunak and Hunt.
However, I could be wrong. We live in such chaotic political times that things could change in months.

@Burnley123 I agree, thanks.

Berlusconi will soon be looking for a job in a country that doesn't mind breaking sanctions on russia... he might well prepare the ground for putin to establish a post defeat retirement palace in London.
i believe you may have some suitable redundant residencies in the not too distant future.

@Yulianna Problem is that even the average Russian citizen knows that their passports are worthless - hence why they've stayed where they can hop home and back to renew their temporary visas.
They're not daft enough to try to even get into the EU.

AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
My money's on the lettuce, even if it rots it'l still be less slimy than Truss.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@burnley123] 😆we no which has the bigger heart too do we not
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@smiler2012 and the most charisma.
At this point, the lettuce would genuinely beat her in an election and I'm not even kidding.

Why does the lettuce look like BoJo's hair? 🤪
@spjennifer Don't insult the poor lettuce like that or it'll wilt faster!!! 😱
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Lettuce wins by landslide.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 90/10 This is nearly a russian referenda kind of majority
I am confused .. what is the difference?
mksworld · 46-50, C
Lettuce is also worth a lot more
LizOwen · 41-45, F
I don't think the Tory-trash can afford a third leader within six months so they'll use Truss as a mouthpiece while others manipulate her.
Mind you - I didn't think Putin would invade Ukraine either so my political acumen is unreliable

Definitely the lettuce.
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
Lettuce can survive 2 weeks in the right conditions 🤣
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Havesomefun2 And Truss has survived about six weeks, so far.
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
@MartinII so getting a limp around the edges (
Liz...

@HootyTheNightOwl On the latter point I agree. He's a lesser-evil only.
@Burnley123 I don't see how much leaner he can make life for those who are already struggling - and in a time when everything is going up, too.
They want people to find work, yet they want to halve Universal Credit - which is going to make getting to job interviews even harder than it already is, given that bus fares outside of London aren't that cheap. Its cheaper to buy two single trips or a day ticket than it is to get a return ticket home.
How can a day ticket be cheaper than the cost of a return ticket from point A to point B??? That defies logic.
