The Republicans just can't admit that Obama was the best president so far this century, that is why they jump in bed with Trump and his ilk.

And Obama definitely was the best. Compared to Bush, Biden, and Trump (all losers).

Next to that... can you explain to us why the software entrepeneur that wrote that opinion piece that you use, compares people that have gone through milder recensions with the guy that had to deal with the worst recession since the 1930s? Wouldn't it be more logical to compare Obama's policies and their effects with what happened in similair economies that have to go through a similair recession? It feels like cherry picking and a really narrow analysis. I'm not sure if software entrepeneurs need to make opinion pieces about these things... but hey, what ever floats your boat I guess.

@ElwoodBlues A governement can have some impact when it comes to economic recovery though. They can make governement investments (build infrastructure), lower taxes, ... and if they have control over the money policy can have interest rates low. Which gives breathing room for new investments and stimulates buying power by the labour force that is being employement in those governement projects. Those are things they can do... they just should stop doing it when the economy is running again, which is an unfavorable measure to take by politicians. That's probably why Trump didn't do it, he lowered taxes and kept the interest rates low all during an economic boom. Which at some point will have it's consequences, but if you are not in charge then people don't really care about what you have done.

Trump idolizes Hitler, as do most of the right wing extremists. Trump also idolizes communism where those in the politburo are far more “equal” than everyone else.

As a personal opinion, I would have to agree that Obama was the best "Person" to be President in the selection you mentioned. But lets be honest and agree that the Office of President is a poisoned Chalice, to the extent that the President is usually prevented from achieving his original goals, by Capitol Hill and the deals that need to be done, and/or by the states that refuse to comply. The system was put in place and set in stone at a time when it was very progressive, and designed not to be changed. But progress after all this time has overtaken it. And we are living through times where change needs fast responses, that the system and those in power find it easy to stifle. The best President in the world couldnt overcome that.😷

I personally think this whole thing is a partially-successful attempt at sabotaging the west and in particular the US from the inside, orchestrated/funded by hostile foreign actors.

As for Trump, I think he just embodies the spirit of Conservatism. People like that he's really stupid, corrupt, and authoritarian.
