This whole thing is a little 'scary' to me. She's a hardcore Conservative. She understands politics. She's even-keeled. And just because she had the audacity to stand for the truth, the Constitution, and Democracy, she's labeled a traitor.
There's people out there now living in a world that doesn't exist outside of their own twisted minds. They've been manipulated to think they're patriotic when they're the exact opposite. I know how it happened and who it appeals to. But the fact that so many have gone all-in with, in my mind, a criminal con man, doesn't give me much confidence moving forward.
If there was EVER a time to end the Electoral College, which gives the Democracy / Law & Order haters WAY too much power in government, we're on a road that will eventually hit a brick wall.

@Ynotisay I share your fear, but this is not surprising, and I think the distinction between Conservatives, hard core or not and Trumpists, is long since obvious.

Who t F knows what these people stand for besides Trump, but it sure as hell has nothing to do with honesty or "conserving" anything worthwhile.

@MistyCee If you ask one of those people what they're against you're sure to get a laundry list. If you ask them what they're for? It'll probably come to "Freedom" (with a capital 'F') or "America."

I'm not sure if there is much of a distinction between Conservatives and Trumpists any longer. Cheney is proof. I think there's a line in the sand. If someone votes Republican now they're voting Trump and his ideals. It's unfortunate, because it dismisses real Republicans which is important in our Democracy. But it is what it is. The only thing I can see coming out of this that could be beneficial is rendering the party moot at the voting box and having them build back up in a way where fascism doesn't play a role. We'll see.

I really don't see outright fascism being as much of a problem in the near future as society getting uglier and uglier as lying to the other and committing crimes becomes acceptable as long as you can get away with it or blame it on someone else, be it corrupt judges, juries, fake news, or an overarching conspiracy by a corrupt government they have a right and duty to resist by force?

I'm sure most GOP politicians know Trump's election stuff was a lie but go along with on to keep the crazies in their base. She wouldn't and she lost.

Cheney and McCain both are and were two Republicans that I could honestly respect.

Nothing more needs to be said really. Yet this beings me back to when McCain passed away...

All former past presidents, alive at that time, was at McCain's funeral barring one standing president.

I'm not a Republican, never have been. I'm vocally against some of the policies Cheney supports and let's not forget, you can't choose your family but her father is the Devil.

But she's got my vote. Not because Trump figures in here in any way. Not to "get" anyone, not because I think she's becoming a Democrat, not because I think she'll bring about my particular brand of Utopia. Because she's a woman with education, values, identifiable ethics and the backbone to do the hard thing.

I may not want to get to the other side of the coast by someone else's route, but I'm sure happy not to be walking.

A one issue politician and that one issue wasn't anywhere close to what the people thought to be their top priority.

This next election is about what Democrats are doing to America NOW, and what they plan to do in the future. Her hopping in bed with the same people who gave us 6 years of Russia-collusion hoax said more about Liz Cheney than it did about Donald Trump.

Liz Cheney took the bait and fell into the same trap that John McCain fell into with the Democrat stooge media. They like her not because of her, but because she's a thorn in the Republican party's side.

Donald Trump isn't the top issue of the November election, Joe Biden is.

Russia-collusion hoax

If you're referring to the Mueller investigation - it led to 36 different individuals being successfully prosecuted for felonies. Among them, Trump's campaign finance manager, campaign manager, Trump's lawyer, national security advisor. It also demonstrated that Trump's campaign shared polling data (U.S. citizens info) with Russian Intelligence, that Russia tried to help Trump's campaign and that Trump's campaign was aware Russia tried to help.

Rest assured that if it was the Democrat side doing something like this you'd be out with guillotines, considering how outraged y'all were about a mailserver that turned to be a big nothingburger.

And we still haven't seen the entire unredacted report.

They like her not because of her, but because she's a thorn in the Republican party's side.

Yes, everyone actually agrees on this and she certainly knows it too. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I'd love to see America have two or more political parties actually seriously focused on running the country better for everyone, but Liz's vision for it in terms of policy is pretty radical compared to, say, Joe Lieberman, and I'm not sure where she's going.

Nor am I a fan of his daughter pre-Trump.

But I *am* impressed that *they* have chosen to stand against Trump even to LC's political detriment. THOSE actions are a pleasant surprise, profiles in courage when it is needed most.
