When I was very young I once visited Canada.
My dad working in the tech space as he had went to a disaster recovery conference.
he worked for a big big insurance company too but it needed to know what to do if it's mainframe centers were hit by a major natural disaster and to prepare to move operations elsewhere.
So went up North of the border to Canada and visited Britished columbia, and I relay this story because I do not believe in American exceptionalism.
As a child I saw a few things, sure in some of the more glamorous parts of the country people live lives in great excess of canada, but honestly the living standards of those people are roughly equalivent to our own.
it made me realize our way of doing things wasn't the only way that could work.
