California, the land of fruits and nuts.

Insects are not allowed on the endangered species list, so the bee is now a fish for the purpose of being able to legislate law surrounding the steep decline of our number one pollinatior.
@assemblingaknob I like that!
@assemblingaknob
but it's not a fishie
That's OK. Despite all the right-wing lies, the ruling was based on the Cal Fish & Game legal code that covers far more than fish. In particular, the code includes invertebrates. Somebody's meme went viral, but it's based on a lie.

@ElwoodBlues thank you!

Without pollinating species, we are toast. If that law protects bees, i dont care if they are classified as endangered fish, fowl or whatever.
@sunsporter1649 As I predicted, now that's sporty's lies have been exposed, he is trying to duck out and change the subject, LOL!!!

Because, despite right-wing lies, the law doesn't classify bees as fish. The law classifies them as invertebrates, which is what they are in the taxonomy of the Animalia.
... the law is part of the California Fish and Game Code. The code’s definition includes any “mollusk, crustacean, invertebrate (or) amphibian,” Robie wrote. All those categories “encompass terrestrial and aquatic species,” and the state legislature has already approved the listing of at least one land-based mollusk, the opinion said.

“Accordingly, a terrestrial invertebrate, like each of the four bumblebee species, may be listed as an endangered or threatened species,” Robie wrote, joined by Acting Presiding Justice Cole Blease and Associate Justice Andrea Lynn Hoch.
See what I mean?? Sporty will do ANYTHING to change the subject, LOL!!!

@ElwoodBlues So your next panic is killer bees threatening swimmers in the pools across America
While “fish” is “commonly understood to refer to aquatic species, the term of art employed by the Legislature … is not so limited,” Associate Justice Ronald Robie wrote for the appeals court.

CESA itself does not define “fish,” but the law is part of the California Fish and Game Code. The code’s definition includes any “mollusk, crustacean, invertebrate (or) amphibian,” Robie wrote. All those categories “encompass terrestrial and aquatic species,” and the state legislature has already approved the listing of at least one land-based mollusk, the opinion said.

In liberal Commiefornia, not surprised.

Turtlepower · 36-40, M
Ugh that's stupid. Just create a law or edit the current one to protect them rather than misuse a current law.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Turtlepower Talking logic to liberals is a waste of time
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
@sunsporter1649 here's the thing. I am liberal-ish and this is stupid to me. So take your opinions of liberals and add them to your feelings about this and frankly it should show how ridiculous this is.
@Turtlepower Thanks for the link!
the act itself defines a “fish” as “a wild fish, mollusk, crustacean, invertebrate, amphibian, or part, spawn, or ovum of any of those animals.”
In other words, in the eyes of California lawmakers, those four letters, F+I+S+H, denote vast numbers of taxonomic groups that may lack gills or spines of scales. They should call their definition fish++.

I'm from the Midwest. People just started raising bees and problem on the way to being solved. Only in California do you solve a problem by calling it something it isn't.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
Yum, yum Bumblebee, Bumblebee Tuna! The freshest tuna, it's filleted by hand!
In a can.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Changeisgonnacome Different lawsuit. Bumblebee & Starkist settled the class action suit against their monopolistic ways out of court.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@dancingtongue maybe they saw that can of Bumblebee, and assumed it was real bumblebees
Yeah I was looking for scales and fins on this “ fish “ couldn’t find any![image deleted]
The world has gone nuts...my garden is therefore attracting loads of fish..😂
Budwick · 70-79, M
I saw that the other day - and just rolled my eyes.
OKAY if they want to protect the bees - bees are good.
But why confuse things more than they already are?
Was all the bee money spent on the homeless?
Are they shorting the fish?
California is a waste of space.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Budwick $3,000,000,000 for bee equity!

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@ron122 the state has some beautiful areas, the government is the problem.
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
@ron122 seriously? Have you seen it? When you're driving down that hiway in the sun?
ron122 · 41-45, M
@Changeisgonnacome The people in charge make it a shithole. It's a shame they made a beautiful state unlivable.
If we offered California independence do you think they'd accept?
Changeisgonnacome · 61-69, F
What a Shame.
California can't be protected.
That I read. My hub read it me and sent me a link.
