@ninalanyon Well, I looked a little further into this. It turns out that the formula business is close to a state sponsored monopoly and the biggest supplier just closed a factory because of hygiene worries after a couple of babies died. Simply having more suppliers would help but a lot of the formula is supplied as part of a welfare program. States award contracts to a small number of companies. So the supply chain is fragile.

@ninalanyon And, if you look further you would find that the sick babies did not get sick from formula from this plant. But, the FDA kept the plant closed. Then MONTHS later, when the shit hit the fan, the FDA says, OK, open up, make more formula. It takes two months to fire up production.

@Budwick Sothe FDA works properly when there is a Republican president? You seem to think that I was arguing against you. My second comment was pointing out that you are right, government involvement in this case does seem to have been an aggravating factor, but states as well as not just the federal government.

In a free market economy it shouldn't be down to government to hold the hand of business. A fragile supply chain has been tested and broken by economic shock, and the inefficiency of the market revealed (yet again). Poorly funded offices of government will now have to try to mop up the spilt milk.

@4meAndyou Abbott voluntarily recalled some of its products and ceased production following reports of bacterial infection in babies that are potentially related to the company's baby formula. The shortages stem from a market already under strain following the pandemic and over-reliance upon a single manufacturing plant which is known to have had serious sanitation issues. The FDA's response may well be shown to be slow and inadequate, but then again it is not generally the role of democratic governments in the 21st century to dabble in industrial policy 🤷♀️

@SunshineGirl Then, after it was determined that their formulas were not responsible for the bacterial infections in babies, the FDA cited them for multiple violations at their plant...and shut them down without any sort of plan in place to feed the starving babies. The FDA IS part of the government.

Have read yesterday that some brands were poisoned. They want to make babies sick to use an excuse to vaccinate all of them for “Covid”. When it was discovered the formulas were being deliberately poisoned White Hats stepped in and removed them from being sold. I also remember hearing in the news not long ago about baby food being contaminated with heavy metals. My friend’s brother worked in a baby food manufacturing plant about 25 years ago and they were so strict about the quality of foods being used to make the baby food. So if there was heavy metals in it now them it was deliberately poisoned. The Deep State is panicking and all they will do is destructive things to keep power.

Im not disagreeing but he was a baby when baby formula didnt exist.people used cows milk to feed their babies. Baby formula isnt necessary. Its a luxury at least in a technical sense.
