According to someone close to him the Uvalde Shooter was not bullied

he was actually a bully himself according to this guy who claims to be close to him.

This is often a myth that persists for some reason. Not sure why. Maybe just overly presumptuous reporting or a desire to paint a sympathetic varnish on the offender. To make sense of such a senseless killing.

I remember this also being the case with Columbine. Another grizzly massacre. There the media portrayed the shooters as being victims of bullying that lashed out. It later came out that they were actually quite popular and did bullying themselves.

Bullies are pretty notorious for accusing their victims of bullying to justify their own rage.

I have seen this played out many times in my own experience.

Rather than add to the tar pit of speculation, rumor, falsehood, conspiracies and random thoughts, why not wait for a comprehensive report of what happened? It will change nothing. Kid was broken. Kid had a gun. Kid killed other kids. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat, rinse and....

@Graylight Not against comprehensive reports. But I also think its important for people to follow the story as it unfurls. Conservatives already, wrongly, accused the shooter of being trans. I don't think I need to tell you how the narrative can be irreversibly shaped before the comprehensive report comes out. To say nothing of the excuses people responsible will think up in that time to go into the so-called 'comprehensive report'
He obviously felt bad enough to kill people. Why, I don't know. I don't know if he had issues or really was seriously bullied and lost it. I've been bullied, online, but I have self control. I consider the consequences of retaliating. Young people don't always. They become too emotionally involved and don't realize their world is bigger than their immediate surroundings or the school they go to.

@Spoiledbrat And that's the point, right? He might have been bullied or he might have been a bully - both speak to trouble at home.

But there are hundreds of thousands of bullies and bullied kids and they don't go off shooting each other. At 18, an individual with the pain, rage and disassociation to do something like this was broken in a way that happened long before he got here.

But he sure had a gun.

@NoahB Don't bother trying to have any kind of meaningful interaction with @Changeisgonnacome.

This is why it pisses me off when I hear about school teachers and other staff ignoring bullies. You think a bully is going to become less of a bully as he gets older?
