The quality of world political discourse will be saved by a billionaire tech-bro.

Hmm... perhaps we need more rape jokes and racist death threats on the internet. That crap coup attempt was misunderstood by radicals on the non-far right and that diver looked like a pedo anyway.

#FreeSpeechAbsolutist.

I can't wait to see Twitter turn into 4chan. Musk will be forced to start banning people, which will be hilarious.
@BohemianBabe Yes, you can do that too.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@LamontCranston You abuse the privilege.
@LordShadowfire Right, not privilege, Bozo.

When I get to pick an emotion for my posts, it never lets me pick 'terse and sarcastic'.

Shame really, because that is about half of my emotional range.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@LamontCranston Perhaps.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Burnley123 Just work the word sarcastic into your username, and then pick "Fun" for the mood.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@LordShadowfire It does exactly what it says on the tin.

the world's media is increasingly in the hands of the world's billionaires. Musk can talk all he likes about free speech (bullshit) he simply wants to control speech to suit himself.
It's a parallel grab to the selling off of public spaces to the world's wealthiest. That's been the grab for the last two decades in particular.

@Abstraction I see the media moguls as pretty much always people who were wealthy or, like Murdoch, became wealthy due to their meda businesses.
It seems to me that the more extreme polarisation in the US began when the laws that mandated reporting opposing points of view were repealed. I think they should be reinstated.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@hartfire Agree. Increasingly the new tech billionaires are buying up media, because data on our lives, everything we do or show interest in is the most valuable real estate.
In film Ex Machina, I can't remember the precise quote, but he says something like, "Everyone thought mining the data was valuable - but the real value is in mining the way we think."

Dude what the hell are you babbling about? Rape jokes yea they aren’t funny but racist death threats is an actual crime.
Now I have zero problem with different viewpoints. But I never would want them banned. I will defend you right to babble on about what you want (which is what free speech is) but a call to violence (with is what a death threat is) should be addressed appropriately. That is my personal point of view. The political right has been essentially silenced on social media and it is a huge problem.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
@BohemianBabe Wow we actually agree on something not a single politician would agree with me on everything either.

See terms of services is so vague but when selectively enforced that is censorship my friend. I have zero issue with terms of service regarding calls for violence or the sexual exploitation of minors. (something Twitter and Facebook has had problems with in the past and I’m sure it continues today).
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@BohemianBabe
see you only say that you wish Steve Crowder and Ben Shapiro were censored into silence because you don’t agree with them. Are they popular absolutely yes and honestly Louder with Crowder is actually one of the more accurate political commentary shows with very good transparency because he will list every single resource he uses for the show and honestly it is entertaining.

😂
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
@Burnley123 yes all sources are listed on his website I don’t get what is funny.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
This is the most weird thing to be upset by 😅

Twitter allows the #maps and pedophiles to post freely under their little hidden hashtags like #maplives #map #maplivesmatter. Black Twitter is racist as hell and does nothing but post racist terroristic threats constantly regarding white people.

But you really think you are being condescending about a “rape joke”

This post just tells anyone who has been on toxic Twitter that you’ve never been on Twitter 🌚
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@DeluxedEdition I believe you. Toxic is something I'm sure you know well. 😂
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Burnley123 one must understand something well in order to recognize that one must avoid it 😏

Musk is putting together a group of investors, to help him buy Twitter. The hook is that he will be taking Twitter public, after first taking it private, and with the right amount of hype, his investors will make $Bs.

So, this is not about principle, it's just another pyramid scheme.

So far, his largest investors include Larry Ellison and Prince Walid Bin Tatal. If he does not come up with the cash, or the regulatory bodies block him, he's out $1B, the non-refundable deposit he made.

What would be interesting is the Trump situation. If Trump does come back to Twitter, what does that say about his "Truth" network?

Such elevated discourse. Rape jokes and memes: the new intellectualism. 😌
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SW-User TBH, Twitter is pretty shit anyway.

Making it worse would be Elon's greatest feat of engineering yet.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
The internet is great for exposing people for who they are .
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AthrillatheHunt Like joyofsatan.org
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
So you would prefer all speech to be limited? If the government decided that SW was bad you would be banned. Happy with that?
@hippyjoe1955 Like I said, SW already does that. Like every social media site, SW has a TOS.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@BohemianBabe You missed the point of government control of speech. Ever heard of the Ministry of Truth being established by Biden and Trudeau et al?
@hippyjoe1955 Yeah, I miss some of your points, because you have to backpedal so quickly.

The point is, all speech is limited. There's no country on Earth that doesn't have laws regarding speech. Lolberts may not admit it, but this is a good thing. Slander, violent threats, and lies about imminent danger should be illegal. I think it should also be illegal to lie in a show that markets itself as news.

@DeluxedEdition We all have things we like to do.

Trying to annoy people never struck me as a worthwhile hobby.
